View Full Version : S54 INtake Clamps
CP Louie 01-10-2007, 10:22 PM OK guys I out this out on the E46 M3 forum ans was told to go to Home Depot.
I need replacement intake clamps (re-useable) for an S54 motor. The clamps are 9 mm wide and need to clamp a 65 mm OD. I know that most people here don't run an S54 motor, but maybe the Euro motor uses the same clamps? Yes Steve J. I have used Google and found the clamps under an Ideal part number, but finding someone who sells them in small quantities is another thing.
Anyway thanks for your time.
Chris
West marine or Boat US should be able to get you whatever Ideal part number you're looking for.
mcclaskz 01-10-2007, 10:37 PM If it is a heavy duty hose clamp, do a search for Zebra clamps. You should be able to find them at your local import garage. Out in Brevard, I am sure there are some shops in Charlotte that would have them.
Steve J. 01-10-2007, 10:48 PM Haha, then you did not search hard enough ;)
Did you check the normal suspects like Mcmaster and Fastenal?
Also, you'd be surprised how many people are using S54's now, they are finally getting affordable and turning up very frequently in the "good" junkyards.
If you want to be sneaky, call Ideal and ask for a sample clamp to make sure it'll work:)

You took the bait!! You are so predictable!!!
McMaster Carr only has 5/16 Inch wide clamps out to 2.5 inches. I also am looking for "smooth ID" clamps that won't chew up the intake boot. Ideal makes the 53103 0080, this is a 9mm wide clamp, that has a clamping range of 60 to 80 mm. Finding someone who sells these is a different matter. Good idea asking for samples, not the first time I have done this. If it is an electronic part I can get anything.

Steve J. 01-10-2007, 11:00 PM Check fastenal than, I just did a quick check, and it seems they should have you covered.
Predictable, but I found a couple places online already :) Whats your zip code, I'll find one close by you might be able to go pickup easily.
If it comes to it, just link a bunch of smaller ones, won't make a difference.
You can also use reusable zip ties, not limited to hose clamps.
Also, check Ebay, most likely can find some good buys there.
