Seriously though, anyone from NM or a surrounding area? I think it would be excellent to set up a cruise or something! There is a lacking of good BMW's in NM and it would be great to meet some of you guys and check out cars. Anyway, post here! I want to see how many responses I get.......

Yep, I am in Las Cruces as of late. I was going to go to UNM in Albuquerque but moved back after I figured I could do just as well here.....You're in El Paso right?

yeah i'm in el paso. i don't think there are any other bf.c members within 100 + miles of me besides you. there is a el paso chapter of the texas bmcca, but i never went to the meetings or checked them out.

Hmmm. Although I am a member, most of the BMW CCA events and meetings are in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. BTW, do they still have the drag races at West Texas Airport??? Haven't gone in a while.......

yeah but they are just lighted drags, no time slips, pretty fun to watch though. we took our brothers wrx there one night right after he broke it in. there is a timed track here. forgot the name of the place though, but it may be closed in the winter anyways

Thunder Alley is the name of the drag strip. I went there in my GTI and its a piece of crap. Its affectionately known as thunder "rally" to many because of the potholes and such littered about the track. Its pretty run down, but cheap to run. However, I would rather pay more to race at Arroyo Seco in Deming. Do people cruise on Lee Trevino anymore??

Lee Trevinco and pretty much the rest of el paso is closed to cruising =(, but most of the people o the roads were just spectators and not participators. the cruise is now located somewhere downtown, not sure how big the crowd is this time of the year though.

Yes, its pretty much the same story. El Paseo used to be somewhat cool (even though its always been kinda ghetto), but its really tapered off the past year or so. I guess the appeal of fast and furious is wearing off, so all the Honda kids are taking off their type R badges and giving their cars back to their parents:). Anyway, if you know of anything coming up in El Paso lemme know.

I went about a week and a half ago on Friday to Desert Demons to time my car. I haven't been to Desert Demons on a Sunday for about 2 and a half weeks. You may have seen me there or cruising around EP. I have a white 328is.

Actually, I was going to run int he competition on Sunday at Thunder Alley. The plan was to take of Jesd325is' exhaust and pulleys and swap them over to mine and to strip my interior for the weekend. He decided to stay in the competition so he stripped his interior and I just held out of the competition.

yeah i actualy had the fastest et of the class (6 mild) but got beaten out because my reaction time sucked, adn since it was heads up the other guy just happened to cross the finish line before me. it sucked cuase it was my worst run of the night

Cool. I have attended a couple of events at Arroyo Seco, but nothing at Sandia yet. Its hard to take the time and go to ABQ as well as mount the Victoracers.

I would really like to attend a BMW CCA driving event, seeing as I am paying for the privilege but havent used it:) Thats a nice car, Efria......Avus and Estoril are awesome colors.

95DinanM3, have you ever raced in the events that are held at the Cohen Stadium parking lot? Mostly Porsche's and BMW's run it.

there is one coming up soon, i think this weekend. a friend at work with an rx-7 is going, but i dont want to look like a fool at an autocross event, since i am used to the 1320.
i met a few other folks with bmw's but none that get on a computer to browse forums, and so they go out and get ridiculous mods for thier cars at ridiculous prices

Just go, Jesus. Who cares if you look like a fool? Auto-X is much more fun that the 1320 anyway... You're a fool if you don't go!!!!!
Ride with somebody who has done it before when they race or have somebody ride with you for the first time to give you instructions as you go through. You'll love it. :ylinlove:

I have a friend with an Si who does it pretty frequently and has a pretty good time. It seems pretty fun. Speaking from previous experience, it really does help to have someone with you the first couple times while you get the hang of it:)

I'm from El Paso too, but go to NMSU so me and my car are there in Cruces for most of the week. I met Jesus at Demon Dragz and have been there almost weekly. Its been busy there though because of spring break (mine just started) so I've been kind of turned off to it

I work at the NASA site actually, but I do take classes as NMSU from time to time... one day I will actually finish my degree :D It's not like I will get a pay raise out of it or anything so I am just going for personal gratification.

Ive seen some pretty bad hailstorms in new mexico, but never one that bad.

hey teg when was that? i remember last summer we had a 45 min hail storm come through OKC that made my front yard look like that parking lot. i dont think the hail was THAT bad but then again the storms get stronger as they leave OKC and go to Tulsa.

I live in albuquerque, born and raised, And I have a 1999 Hellrot Red M3.

I have seen an alpine white coupe, an estoril blue coupe, a titanium silver cabrio and TS coupe...One of yall have to be on here!

I live on the west side of Albuquerque in Rio Rancho. The 95 530i is the wifes daily driver. The 95 M5 Touring stays in the garage most of the time, but sees some time out on the weekends and for BMW CCA drives and meets. I recommend joining our local chapter if you have not already, the meets are great. Usually a tech session with pizza and soft drinks (provided by BMW :redspot ) and a great chance to meet other enthusiasts. The third sunday of every month there is a small GTG at Sonic on San Mateo. Sometimes 0 cars, sometimes 10, like I said small. Ocassionaly they organize drives up around the State, though not near often enough. Maybe if more ppl would join, there would be more organized events?
