View Full Version : 318ti exhaust
bimmerboi318 01-10-2007, 06:55 PM My 95 318ti still has the stock exhaust, but i want to upgrade. A friend of mine has a racing dynamics cat-back system on his. I really like the sound but I want something loud. I havent been able to find any websites that allow you to hear the system and I dont want to buy anything without knowing if it is going to be loud enough or not. The ones i have been looking into are supersprint, and hartge. Does anyone have one of these or know someone that has one or knows how loud they are? Or does anyone know of another brand around or under $500 that will be loud? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
Mad Machine 01-10-2007, 07:02 PM You know that in Virginia they are really strict about noise laws and aftermarket exhausts, right?
windnsea00 01-10-2007, 07:05 PM Why would you want to hear our ugly 4 cylinders any louder haha?

they don't sound too horrible with a straight pipe....just deafening loud. If you don't have money out the butt like a few people on here, just go to a muffler shop and have just an aftermarket on it. It will give you the sound you are after, without breaking your wallet. just because there is an expensive cat back system out there doesn't mean it is the only way to get the sound

tonyyy 01-10-2007, 10:31 PM Understeer has some Stromung ones that IMO are really nice and clean sounding. They also have video clips.

CCRUNNER95/318T 01-11-2007, 02:14 AM Hey Well There Are Two Ways You Can Go With This. I Cant Believe That Your Stock Exhaust Isn't Loud Enough. You Can Either Go With The Racing Dynamics Or You Can Do Like I Did And Go To Ebay And Get An After Market Header For About 100 Dollars And Then Have Your Local Exhaust Guy Run A 2.5 Inch Pipe Back Andput The Tip You Want On It For Abbout 350. Tell Me How It Works Out. By The Way The After Market Header Comes With A Spot For Your O2 Sensor.
Cali330ti 01-11-2007, 02:30 AM I have a SuperSprint catback I need to sell.
Panzer_M 01-11-2007, 11:28 PM Stromung, with the M42, and Stromung with the future M50.
Keeping the single tip, just cause of love the sound the catback makes.

Wow, Juni's Remus exhaust sounds really good!
My Ti is running a custom Borla cat-back (I think I may be the only ti running one). The sound is a little deeper than the Remus in the vid clip, but not too loud, especially at low rpms.
kickass95318ti 01-18-2007, 03:57 PM hey juni do u have a vid clip of ur exhaust i want to hear it, also i want to hear 96's exhaust
Grey Phox 01-19-2007, 01:08 AM How come none of you guys never run Tri-Flo? The few 318 owner that have said they loved them, and they were nice and loud for them as well (just as Tri-Flo's are known to be.......loud)
Bluebimma 01-19-2007, 01:09 AM Not everyone wants a "loud" exhaust.

lol, sorry....wasnt talkin about the OP, i was speaking for some of the other TI owners who like quieter "sporty" sounds.
cooljess76 01-19-2007, 11:39 PM I'll sell you this muffler for $50. I never had a chance to install it on my ti, but I had the same one on my euro spec 318is and it was freakin loud! This one's brand new. Here's a link if you're interested:

Laxpunk2006 01-23-2007, 10:02 PM Not really loud but I'm running a Super Sprint exhaust I've been really happy with. I was forced into buying it because my stock exhaust rusted out/broke apart and was making the most wretched noise I have ever heard. Like I said it's not deafeningly loud but it sounds a little sportier than stock.
Kos-motate139 01-26-2007, 02:17 AM I have a stromung still for sale - I've some interest but UPS wants in the neighborhood of $140 to ship it across the country. Anyone local interested?

scabzzzz 01-29-2007, 12:55 PM if you want loud, just take the muffler off. you'll get a few ponies up top from doing that. i used to run my car, though its got an m52, without a muffler and i felt much slower once i did a dual in dual out muffler. i dunno. if its a daily driver, you'll get really tired quick of headache inducing droning exhaust noise. it truly sucks after a while.
TopEndRacing 03-14-2008, 06:31 AM Is anyone selling their aftermarket exhaust?
Bluebimma 03-14-2008, 11:05 AM I have a supersprint that needs some repairing to the muffler due to rust, otherwise a decent exhaust IMO. I had it on my car and dustins car.
318TIRJC 03-14-2008, 11:27 AM Hey you still selling you ss?
Bluebimma 03-14-2008, 11:28 AM Yes, its sitting in the garage. Will get taken away pretty soon along with the old engines and parts.
