Wondering if an 18x10 rim with a 305 size tire would fit on the m3 without rubbing.
I asked this question on e46fanatics but on that forum instead of getting my question answered the moderators juts made jokes about those size tires being for a lamborghini. I guess it never crossed anyones mind that perhaps someone might want to run an 18 inch drag radial.

simple answer: NO
They will rub for sure. Even 285's rub. Max without rolling the fenders is 275.

What about with fender rolled?

I don't think they will fit.

305/45-18 would be a very tall tire, as well as wide.
I know some people have squeezed 285/30-18's on the rear on an M Coupe, which is not as wide, and not nearly as tall...

305:eek: That's like the X5 4.6is.

You're best bet for a drag tire that would fit and give you some sidewall to flex for launching would actually be to step down to a 17" wheel (if it will clear the brakes :dunno ) and go with a 275/40-17 Drag Radial...

I am sure that a 17" tire would clear the brakes. I see a couple M3s driving around with the E36 M3 wheels on them.

Thats what I was thinking, thanks silver. It would be nice if someone made a 275/18/40 drag radial.

I wonder if the rear diff could handle those kind of hard launchs at the track. I would love to see that but am worried about the rear end. E36s had problems with this happening and even the M3. I had an E36 M3 and the rear diff went at 16K and then the rear sub frame craked in seven different places at 32K. Diff was covered  but the rear sub wasn't :complain .
Would love to see that tire combo on the track but doubt it would fit:dunno

If anyone makes a DR in an 18- it would be Nitto- check around, places like www.discounttire.com might have some... Nittos aren't as sticky as BFG's, but they are better in the rain, better for all around tire...
I thought I recalled Steeda Mustangs having an option for 285/35-18 Nitto DR's, but don't quote me on that... Steeda sells Nittos from their Mustang catalog... or they used to... www.steeda.com
I'm not sure what the rear diff is like on the E46 M3, but it has to be tough... My Z3 3.0 OEM has a Torsen LSD- which is pretty darn tough...

the nitto 18 inch drag radial only comes in a 305 size, ruins it for everyone except for vipers, supras, and vettes.

yeah... :( You could pick up a set of light weight wheels (17"ers) just for the track and mount up some BFG DR's...? :dunno
