I hope he sold it to you for less. He was asking way too much.:kb
Nice car anyways!
techno550 01-10-2007, 12:30 AM RA is not a place to "slide your car around", especially at a DE. I don't think NASA or BMW CCA will take kindly to people having prolonged car control issues. A better bet will be a smaller non club sanctioned track day. Even then its iffy.
TGPR may not be such a hot place either with other cars on course *not* drifting. They'll run up on you VERY quickly.
Best bet will be to save that for a *drift event*, which is extremely different than a track day.
Ken@BSW 01-10-2007, 01:11 AM I think the OP is looking for a drift event. There is one at Myrtle Beach Speedway Saturday. Registration may already be closed, but I will be there, as a spectator, passenger, and camera man (for personal use, of course, I am by far and large no professional).

BTW - there is a 25 or 30 post 'junior period', where you cannot post links or use the personal message system.

No, it is not just a pro event. I will be there with Thomas from AutoFab Motorsports, and Mike Frohock aka 'droptopdrifter'.

Ken@BSW 01-10-2007, 02:14 AM Go to the Myrtle Beach Speedway website, see if you cans till register for the drift event. It would be nice to see another BMW out there, especially an E30 :)

The question isn't what you have, it is what you don't have and can't find at junk yards.
Mitchy540 01-10-2007, 12:20 PM I am seriously thinking about renting Talledega for the day so I can shake down my newly restored vintage Formula Ford. Does anyone want go in with me and rent the track for the day? We can probably get the track for the day for about $1200. Your thoughts? I need to make sure Talledega Raceway will allow open wheeled race cars.

I'd have to get back to you when I figure out my class schedule and all the breaks. I'll let you know when I am open.
Mitchy540 01-10-2007, 12:50 PM No worries man, I'm in no rush. I am online trying to find out if they let open wheel cars on track with others, or allowed by themselves. I am crazy excited to get the car back, its been gone for 1.5 years getting restored back to it's original livery! WOOOO HOOOOOOO!

phildo 01-10-2007, 04:55 PM do you guys know anything about this place?

The pictures do not give me the impression that it is a track per se...
E30DRFTR 01-10-2007, 06:19 PM haha its like a go-kart track, very small u can see a little video of some guy drifting it. looks interesting we gotta call em up and steal it for a day. seems some noob set a time attack of 32 seconds in a del sol and is holding the fastest time? ha bimmerdawg u gotta go out there show em noobies how its done... (far drive tho)
If a del sol can get around this thing in 32 seconds it must be tiny.
M3Bill 01-10-2007, 06:29 PM ha bimmerdawg u gotta go out there show em noobies how its done... (far drive tho)
I'm assuming you've never seen BimmerDawg on a track... :confused :confused

It's small, and cheap, but quite dangerous as well. I almost got hit there when a car went off-course and almost went thru the tire wall and fence the 1 and only time I was there.

Well, hopefully you'll be running real tires in March. Working at a tire place, one would think that you could get yourself a hookup.
:rofl
E30DRFTR 01-10-2007, 10:25 PM lol no i havent seen him run but his ride looks serious...

we can throw out some timing equipment at a real track if you'd like. :devillook

712's might lack outright grip of a better tire, but they are still predictable. Looping it is looping it. :stickoutt :help "driver error" as they say. ;)

kart track. Used to run there "back in the day".
its a "drift track" now. and 32 seconds is SLOW for that place. Though that may not be a bad time for something like a del slo.

yeah, it was decent speed and runoff wise in a lower class WKA kart. (jr sportsman, restricted jr, stock heavy, stock light, etc...) but kinda silly in a 80cc 2 stroke or modified class 4 stroke. Outright retarded in a shifter kart. (but shifter karts are just retarded in general.)
lol no i havent seen him run but his ride looks serious...
:help
the driver is more important than the car.

E30DRFTR 01-10-2007, 11:27 PM ha... oh ya i forgot to tell u people at the shop (bimmerdawg) NO JOY RIDES!! Il know when i see a shiny new oil pan haha. call me before u stick on some pads and rotors i wanna know whats goin on...
