Does anyone know where the navigation system (electronics compartment) is located.

Should be in the trunk, in the compartment to the left, along with the cd changer.

The Nav computer is in the trunk on the left side compartment by the taillight. It's the topmost unit sitting horizontally. I'm speaking for the late E38 models and assuming that you're not referring to aftermarket installations. I can't tell from your profile which model 740iL you have...

Thanks for the response. I need to reset the navigation system. Is that where I would do it? It's a 2000 740il

'Not sure what you mean by resetting the Nav system. What symptoms are you trying to correct?
