View Full Version : Has anyone seen Cirque Du Soleil's Corteo at Atlantic Station?
tpattison 01-09-2007, 12:50 PM Heather and I are going to see Cirque's Corteo at Atlantic Station tomorrow evening and I was wondering if anyone else on here has seen it yet and what you thought of it. I've seen a few other Cirque performances in the past (Alegria, Ka, La Nouba, "O", and Saltimbanco) and they've been pretty fun & entertaining. This will be Heather's first Cirque performance and she's ecstatic and can't wait to see the show. I was going to get their Tapis Rouge package but with the holidays couldn't come up with the extra cash ($500 or so for 2) so we'll be watching from the cheap seats, LOL.
Moupe 01-09-2007, 01:31 PM Saw it Sunday night. Almost too much to look at to be honest. There was a hell of a lot going on the whole time, so watching something on the stage floor would force you to miss what was going on in the air. I thought it was good, but not as good as some of the others in the past.
Also, there were lots of midgets, which scare me a lot. Don't ask.

Thanks, my favorite shows so far have been Saltimbanco and Ka. They also had a lot going on all over the place but I fear that Corteo will out pace both of those. Hopefully it will live up to the hype.

Now you have to spill the beans on why midgets scare the hell out of you. I mean you have Geordie working for you and he's not much taller the Wee-Man! ;)
Saw KA like 3 weeks ago in Vegas...it was an amazing show...anything from Cirque Du Soleil is worth watchin IMO!
RMStephenson 01-09-2007, 02:56 PM I wanted to go but waited too long to get tickets. Have fun.
fefyfo 01-09-2007, 04:21 PM I'm going next Tues. It'll be our first time. Reviews has been good. She's deathly scared of clowns and midgets frighten me too. So we'll see.
Mitchy540 01-09-2007, 06:34 PM Julie and I saw it last week, and loved it. There is a lot going on, above the stage floors. Try to get seats farter away from the front. Its a great Cirque, I liked it a lot.

Excellent performance. As others have said a lot going on above the stage and around it. We sat in that section opening night, don't remember the seats #'s but they're only about 10 seats per row in that section - limited viewing of some things, especially when the side curtains aren't pulled all the way back from the round center stage section. Would have preferred to be in the next section over. My 2 cents...
Enjoy the show!
M3Alpine99 01-09-2007, 09:07 PM I have yet to see a bad one. I have seen all of them including the Vegas shows.
Jenny and I are going on Saturday. Where do you park?

This is not a circus like you are thinking of ;)
DrDrilZ 01-10-2007, 12:55 AM i really enjoyed the show. as long as you are in front of the stage on either side you will have a great view. the tent is pretty small and there is really no advantage in the higher priced seats. the only "bad" seats are off to the side near the "runways" where you cant see everything. i rank this cirque show pretty high compared to ka, o, and mystere. it is closer to mystere than any of the others imo.

Delirium blew chunks IMO. Beyond bad. 10-20mins of it were ok, 2hours of that crap and I was ready to jump. That opinion seemed to be shared by everyone sitting next to us as they formed a line leaving early.

Note, Ninja Geordie pictured is actual size.
backinblack98 01-10-2007, 12:29 PM I went last night to the show and there were only 2 midgets that I saw, both performed several times but hey then again 2 midgets can be a lot especially if you dont ever see any.
I thought the performance was like a 7 out of 10 but I am sure that had to do with the fact that they are a travelling act rather than a stationary act like LaNouba in Orlando and O in Vegas. Great to watch none the less.
There were though some idle performances like the midget romeo and Juliette thing. Just my $0.02

Anyday G-Man. :rofl
tpattison 01-11-2007, 11:27 AM Went and saw Corteo last night and wow we had a blast. Heather absolutely loved the performance and we didn't think there was too much going on during the performance to miss any part of it. Heather loved it so much she actually bought the DVD, LOL. While it wasn't my favorite Cirque Du Soleil it was still well worth the admission price. Would definitely recommend it to my friends to go see.
Our seats weren't the best as they were to the side of the stage but they were still great seats.
The midgets were ok, but there was definitely some eye candy both performing in the show and in the audience.

Unless you have VIP tickets (Tapis Rouge) then you park in the Atlantic Station parking deck. It really isn't that bad.
M3Alpine99 01-11-2007, 11:32 PM I went to fix an issue on my checking account(fraud check)
I was in the bank for 3 minutes... i had a ticket
I came out and guy was putting it under my wiper and I asked him what the hell is going on.
"You are getting a ticket"
"What the fuck"
"Meter ran out"
"I wouldn't have put money in it anyways, some crook, like the people charging for parking here, decided to write a fraudulent check on my account so I came down here to fix it"
He gave me a dirty look and said "You can mail you 5.00 fine in whenever you want, it's 15 after 30 days.
BimmerDawg 01-12-2007, 08:44 AM Good story.
thetastelingers 01-12-2007, 08:45 AM We have tickets to go the 27th.
Neither my wife nor I have been, so we are looking forward to it.

Cost $3.00 to park in the Atlantic station parking deck. A major nightmare to get out of the deck after the show. Took in excess of 30 min. My advice would be to back into a space very close to an exit.
Have fun, it was a good show.

Hmmm, it only took Heather & I 10 mins to get out of the parking deck Weds night. It wasn't that bad at all. If you are really that worried about parking then take a taxi or limo.
