View Full Version : euro trunk lid e34fanatik 01-09-2007, 03:06 AM Hey guys can anyone tell me where i can find the euro trunk for the e38. I am looking to do an upgrade. also if anyone has pics of this on a US model i would greatly appreciate it. tia series 01-09-2007, 03:43 AM i got one on ebay for like 45 buccks or something, looks alot better in my opinon JT///M3 01-09-2007, 04:34 AM pics? didn't know they had a euro version of the trunk. greene08 01-09-2007, 11:36 AM What is the difference besides the wider plate holder? Matsui 01-09-2007, 11:48 AM I think he is referring to the chrome lip piece that goes on the trunk. I think this only came on 2001 model. LJBimmers 01-09-2007, 12:37 PM I think he is referring to the chrome lip piece that goes on the trunk. I think this only came on 2001 model. If that is the case, he could buy the chrome lip piece and add it to his 7 without replacing the entire lid! Not all '01's came with the chrome lip piece either as Sports did not have it! :) Matsui 01-09-2007, 01:14 PM yes, that chrome trim piece has some adhesive in the back and it is a simple stick on. e34fanatik 01-09-2007, 01:21 PM i am referring to the wider plate holding trunk lid. I have seen one online but cant find the pic or the link. I am intersted in putting a euro plate on the back of my car. LJBimmers 01-09-2007, 02:04 PM Thanks for the clarification! Qsilver7 01-09-2007, 03:53 PM i am referring to the wider plate holding trunk lid. I have seen one online but cant find the pic or the link. I am intersted in putting a euro plate on the back of my car. just go to http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do and input the same info for your car except choose the EUROPE button instead of USA. Look under BODYWORK (main group) TAILGATE REAR SPOILER (sub group)...still might not need to buy the whole trunk lid...just the small section wher the plate goes. (see item #23) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/q/h/49.png DaveClement 01-10-2007, 03:52 AM I'm pretty sure that all that you need is part #24 in the picture. You'd have to paint it to match your car. I believe that the main portion of the trunk lid is the same. e34fanatik 01-10-2007, 09:32 PM thanks guys. one more thing this piece (#24), just unbolts from the rest of the trunk? Qsilver7 01-11-2007, 10:37 AM thanks guys. one more thing this piece (#24), just unbolts from the rest of the trunk? First, #24 is the gasket (see the little line on top pointing toward it)....if you go to the link I posted and enter your cars info and pick EURO (since the EURO part # is different)...work your way to BODYWORKS etc...you will be able to pull up the diagram AND part nbr index below it which will help with all the parts AND give you the correct BMW part nbr to order. (you need part #23 - trunk lid cover) Second, sorry.... I don't know how it unbolts...but I'm sure if you open the trunk and pull back the trunk lid's insulation and other bits...you should be able to determine how it all goes together. You also have the exploded diagram (posted above) that helps "see" how everything fits...you can obviously see there's a clamp (#25) and it looks like a few screws alont the top. Good luck. :) greene08 01-11-2007, 12:07 PM Why would you want to do this? e34fanatik 01-11-2007, 12:30 PM to be different I guess and give some individuality on this side of town. but even though I like the look the dilemna would be how I would mount my regular state license plate. toropoki 01-11-2007, 09:51 PM just go to http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do and input the same info for your car except choose the EUROPE button instead of USA. Look under BODYWORK (main group) TAILGATE REAR SPOILER (sub group)...still might not need to buy the whole trunk lid...just the small section wher the plate goes. (see item #23) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/q/h/49.png This would be nice to have. :D Here in Hawaii we have a Safety Inspection sticker to stick on our bumper. I already have it on a separate plate next to the license plate at an angle instead of sticking it on the bumper. Edwin Strahan 01-12-2007, 10:44 AM I like the wider looking plate holder too, but I've never understood why people want to run useless international tags. I'd be too embarassed when someone sees it then says to me "oh, you imported a German market version?" then I'd have to be like uhh.. no, it's USDM, I just thought that looked cool. -shrug- Then again, there are people out there who think curb feelers are cool, so I guess to each their own :) |
