View Full Version : VERY short range for garage transmitter (Homelink?)

I have not been able to figure out why my garage transmitter install on the mirror of my car works from about 1/3 of the distance that the hand-held version does. I have to pull right up to the gate to get it to work at all and it often take a few presses. With the small hand-held remote I can tap it from down the block...

Is there something wrong or something that I should do?

My 335's Homelink also has a little shorter range than either my G35's or the handheld transmitter. It really isn't a big deal for me though as it works from the end of my driveway.

Mine actually works at least as good or better from distance than my regular opener. I don't like the placement on the bottom of the mirror though, just don't feel comfortable pushing the button. Should be on the ceiling.

Mine works as well as my hand held remote. I too would like to have the button placement on the ceiling also. Maybe up by the front dome lights. But , Im getting used to the under the mirror placement. So old dogs can be taught new tricks.

I agree, I hate when I knock the mirror out of adjustment when pushing the button. :shifty

I guess I will try setting it up again and see if that helps. I sure hope it does because I am still keeping the original remote in the car for ease of use...

Mine works better with a considerable gain in distance. First couple of times I used it I would press and hold the wrong button while watching the door and when it didn't move I would keep pressing harder and eventually inadvertently adjust the mirror. Might try to program all three buttons to the same door since I have no use for the other two.
