Hello folks,

After experiencing a flat tire... I was wondering if a realignment is neccessary?

Lets say I either bring my car to the dealership with one of my run flat tire with 0 psi for a new tire to be placed or if i put on a temporary smaller spare tire (donut tire) is only a 17" tire?

Thanks!

Not unless you hit something very harsh.

Would it be ok if we replace one tire and not both?

Actually, a nail got into my left front (run flat) tire. The monitor was indicating a flat tire. I read here that run flats can be repaired. So, I took my car to Discount tires and they said they fixed it. The next day, the indicator showed up again. I put some air and it looks good as I type. I was wondering if we can replace just one front tire and not both (I used to replace both tires on my old cars). BTW I have 2400 miles on my new car and tires.

Cheers.

No need to replace the other tire. As long it's holding air, it's fine.

On planes it's a different story, find one flat tire...both wheels on that axle has to be replaced.

I paid $800 for the tire and rim warranty. Must have in my book.

My dealership replaces the tire if you get a nail.

I just had my 2nd flat on the rear with RFTs. Once you lose all your air pressure, the little bands in the tire start to wear. I had absolutly zero air in my rear left tire and left it sit at work all day before I could take it in. Whenfirst started driving, I could tell that the tire was not round anymore. I think they go out of round if you drive on them when there is little to no air pressure and then when they inflate, they dont inflate to a true round or perfect tire anymore.

My dealer wants a grand for the tire and rim warrenty, I've head others getting them for as low as $500.

The only caveat I would make to that is if the remaining tire is well more than half way through it's tread life. Then you might want to consider replacing both, especially on the front. I found out on my C6 (also with RFT's) that it can make for some squirrely handling if you don't. :shifty

On the rear if you have one tire go bad and the other has less then 75% thread you should replace them both, on the front is does not matter as much. The reason for this is the larger tire will turn less times then the smaller tire putting strain on your diff. If you plan on mating with your bmw for life, you might end up with a 2500 dollar bill one day that could have been prevented.

Before anyone says a word, I know that the chances are 1% of this happening, but is it worth a couple of hundred dollars to risk it?
