Hi all,
A friend of mine is about to buy a 330 cabrio 2001 and the previous owner has done some kind of modification to the gas pedal. Something that has to do with the drive by wire.....
Unfortunately I don't have more details other than its somekind of electronic devide.
The car feels and drives faster than any 330 I've driven.
Anyone knows what this is?

throttle body adaption? Maybe a software upgrade on the electronic fly by wire throttle?

I wish I knew.....
It was done in the BMW Dealership in Athens Greece and it cost arround 300 dollars.
Apparently the gas is not controlled 100% by the ECU anymore. I know that when you press the gas pedal to the floor, the ecu gives partial throttle. With this mod you get what you press for :)
Its called a throttle sprint booster.. applicable to drive by wire models. Is fixed behind the gas pedal what it does is it gives a faster response when accelaration does not increase power just no lag when you press the gas pedal.

Thanks WNL.
I just googled it and I got tons of results.
I don't want to pay the silly +-300 dollars for it.
Any way to get it cheap or replicate it somehow?
You can always buy a used one... don't think the sprint booster is easily damaged so buying a used one is no problem. I don't know maybe you can search any car forums for used ones. Try merc forums too cause most merc owners install sprint boosters cause you can feel the most difference with mercs than bimmers.

Hey heres a question. Ive noticed that whenever i change gears, while driving normally (ie gently) i find it difficuclt to apply throttle smoothly it usually jerks, ive tried altering the point at which i give gas as i disengage the clutch but its pretty hit and miss.
HOWEVER if i'm gunning it, the gear changes are much smoother.... what the heck is all that bout???:confused  :eyecrazy
