Hey guys,

I thought i would post this in the Off-topic since it gets more traffic, but if it needs to be moved to the e46 then so be it.

Anyway i am looking at a manual 2001 330Ci and wanted some opinions on the price. I asked a broader question on the boards not too long ago but things are a little more serious now and i thought i would get some expert's opinions.

The car has 50,000 miles on it and has the premium and sport packages. I have yet to see the car in person (its out of state) but from what i have heard from the seller it is in very good shape. He is the original lessee and the lease is up so he is planning on selling.

The KBB and NADA are valued at $22,085 and $21,860 respectively. He will take 19500 but is pretty firm on that price.

What do you guys think? Is this a jump on it deal? I am currently selling my vehicle so ideally i would not like to move on something new for a few more weeks until mine sells but I would be willing if the deal is worth it. Thoughts?

Also i the fact that this was a lease something to worry about? I mean on one hand it is nice to know that the car has only has one owner......but then again sometimes people dont treat leases well. This particular owner said he babied the car b/c he didnt know whether he was going to purchase it at the end of the lease.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be great!

Thanks

it's not a deal - but you could do worse I guess. If you shop around a little more you can find one for probably 17-18k.

I bought an immaculate 01 330CI with 65k miles on it for $19k last year - so $19.5k for less miles is a so so deal.

$19.5 for an 01 330Ci is excessive...

They go for $15-16k on eBay all day...

You can get an E46 M3 for about $22ish, if you look hard.

Anyways, $20K buys you a lot of cool cars, cooler than a 330Ci.

Used Z4s, Boxsters, M-Roadsters, M-Coupes, etc... Look around a little.

Yeah i dont have that car anymore.......forgot to change the profile. However it will be a huge improvement over my current car (97 4runner)

Everyone saying that you can find better deals please post some examples....I have seen some 330Ci's in the high $17's but they had 20,000+ more miles on them.

People talk about finding better deals........please give me some examples.

Also is it safe to purchase off ebay?

if you think about it there is always going to be some better deals out there but the question is how hard do you want to look for them. I've been checking 330ci prices for a while now and with that kind of mileage it is not a bad price. I just bought the exact same car with 75k for $15k (will be picking it up on friday) and i thought it was a pretty good deal. I'm sure if i wanted to wait some more I could find one for $12-13 maybe.

Can't say I knock the orange and blue on that one - Go GATORS! (although it is in SF bay area....)

Anyway, I bought my 01 330Ci, manual, with 48k miles for 18.2 last june. It had the sport package, but not the premium package.

It also needed about $1500 worth of maintenance (dealer prices, I did the work myself, but he went to the dealer so I argued him down using their prices). Car was in awesome condition with brand new Eagle F1 GSD3's on it.

Some say I got a great deal, others not so much. Just giving you an example for reference.

$1500 in maintenance on a car with 48k miles.......what was wrong? Is that normal or did the previous owner just not stay up to date on maintenance.

Normal - sort of. It was due for an inspection II and control arm bushings, and we knew it needed brakes. At dealer prices, thats roughly $650 for the Inspection II, $400 for the CABs, and $450 for a set of brakes (fronts only) - so about $1500 after rounding.

I slapped a set of front Axxis pads on for ~$60, control arm bushings for $90, and did the inspection II myself for about $100 (oil+ filter, cabin filter, air filter).

Unfortunately for me, the CABs I replaced went bad within a month, and when I did them again, I did the arms and the bushings for $300 (but I got my original $90 for the first set of CABs back).
