View Full Version : Garage space / car storage in town?
Recent events have left me with a couple of extra cars and no good places to park them. Selling them isnt really an option (except the 2002, which needs to go), and having 4 cars spread over 3 states sucks also.
Anyone know of any car storage places around here? I don't think most self-storage places will take cars. :az Look for a thread soon where I'm asking about an apartment with a garage. :cool
How about finding a unit in an industrial park or something and splitting it between a couple of us with too many toys?

My local Public Storage has (inside and outside) car units for rent, but you may be able to find cheaper means if stored elsewhere..
Good luck.

Whore - there's often such arrangements that come and go. The last one has all the spaces filled up and it was for a warehouse. I'll let you know the next time I hear of an event. You can also check on craigslist as well they have a section for properties but very rarely do people offer "small lots."
If you do find something and want to split - I might be interested as I am in the same situation with some petty parts I have around.
As Ben mentioned they do have them available as internal and external - but they cost a pretty penny. Some garages do have depth to them so u can have the car and other items stored. Best thing to do is to sign up when there's at least a special obviously.

I am looking for the same thing actually....some place I can keep the track car on a trailer.
delgadoduvidoso 01-07-2007, 11:07 PM There are numerous unmetered street spaces around my building. No guarantees that your car will be there the next day, however.
CVGTURBO86 01-07-2007, 11:32 PM tell me what your new suprise car is and i will tell you a good place to store it. lol

I have rented storage places big enough for a 635 and boxes of junk at a Mini storage place for $100 a month. Think it was a 10 by 30?
Mike
The new car is my daily driver as of Tuesday, so no need to store it. I am basically looking for a place to store my Dad's old 1977 Ford Bronco w/ 289, soft top, 31s, etc... not really the kind of thing you park on the street in the O4W. ;) A place to work on the e30 would be a sweet bonus too, but it doesnt really need storage.
Thanks guys

Thanks Mike, thats the kind of thing I was hoping to hear. I can definitely swing that. :)
Robstah 01-08-2007, 02:34 AM How much for the 2002, and which one is it? Also, if you don't mind a drive up to Athens, I might be able to store your e30 either in the garage, or next to the house at barely any money and I will be able to work on it for you as well, if you wanted. ;)
talisbell 01-08-2007, 04:43 AM Everyone who is seriously interested in this send me an email to tal.isbell@gmail.com. I will set up a venue to have a serious discussion about acquiring some communal garage space.
I am about to search for some industrial storage to put a car, a couple motorcycles, a boat and my tools in. I am in commercial real estate so I actually know how to find and acquire the space. My focus will be based on accessibility to Buckhead. Most likely in the Chamblee area (best accessibility but most expensive), possibly in the Chattahoochiechochie Industrial area (not as inexpensive as it used to be), less likley in the near westide area (cheap but not terribly accessible). There are quite a number of liability reasons not to do this so it may be a non-starter or may have a pretty high hurdle to kick it off but before I start looking for space I need to know exactly how much to be looking for. My initial thought is for +/- 500 sf of "common" space and +/- 500 sf per person.

Most self-storage places won't allow you to work on your car on the premises.
P.S. : give me the front bumper off your E30.

This can come to my house.
I'll be sure to keep it in good running order.

Thanks for the offer, but the e30 is taken care of already. :buttrock Plus I do mind the drive to Athens. :dunno
The 2002 should probably go for around a g. I'll make sure it has good tires and all the spares for that price. It's a 73 non-sunroof, 4 speed, 2l M10 with a 32/36 weber. The problem is that it's stuck in VA 550 miles away.

Alright. Sounds good to me. I'll talk to you later about it.

I think this is a great idea...I'd love to hear more. I see potential liability/insurance as an issue.

I don't know if it's allowable or not, but they have seen me working on my car before ,more than once, and they have never said anything to me about it :dunno . ,maybe because it's an indoor space not an out side or maybe because i don't go over-board,like swapping engine&tranny.
