I just noticed the fuel door doesn't lock. Any suggestions? Everything else on the car locks just fine.

It's a green pull tab I on mine and sticks out from the right wheel well. hellrot98m3 01-07-2007, 11:14 PM ive noticed on my e36 that it hasnt worked in the year that ive owned the car somone have a solution? When the car has been locked with the key (either manually or with keyless entry buttons)...or when the car has been locked with the central lock/unlock button on the center console...or the AUTO LOCK @ 5mph feature? There is a difference, and I believe it's explained in the owners manual. When the car is locked with the key...EWS immobilizes the starter, ignition, and fuel...and the doors, fuel filler door, and trunk if its in the vertical position ( | ) ... should all lock. When you use the central lock/unlock button, or if the car is set to AUTO-LOCK at 5mph...the fuel filler door does NOT lock. This allows gas station attendents to refuel the car while you remain safely locked inside your car. Again, I believe this is detailed in the owners manual. :) Qsilver7 01-08-2007, 01:19 AM ive noticed on my e36 that it hasnt worked in the year that ive owned the car somone have a solution? Check the fuel filler door's lock actuator...perhaps it's gone bad. If you go to the online parts database...you should be able to find the part. Here' it is (for the e36 3 series)..it's #7 in the diagram below...click this link to go to the part # index: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BK03&mospid=47479&btnr=41_0853&hg=41&fg=50&hl=14 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/s/z/10.png MisterPootieCat 01-08-2007, 01:22 AM Need more details...when are you checking the fuel door? I saw the info in the owners manual about using the center console lock/unlock button. I'll tear into the trunk over the weekend and see if the solenoid is getting any power to it. |
