Hi, I have a '00 M Roadster that I'm converting to HID. I need a power source from teh battery and the battery jumper location in the engine compartment looks good. When I pop open the cover to reveal the hex nut thing, I cannot remove it with a wrench for fear of breaking the plastic box and reinforcement. Does this nut come off? I assume it does so I can get to the wires underneath. If not, is there an alternative source that I can tap this 12 gauge wire into to power my lights? TIA

If you're converting the lights to HID's, can you use the existing power from the headlights?

The way this kit is wired, it goes through a relay system that needs seperate 12v and ground. It's much better this way as the power doesn't put additional load on the headlight switch. It has the stock headlight plug which makes for a PnP system.

the hex nut on top does NOT unscrew, dont force it, u will break it! the plastic box has a face cover that you can pry out open, when you remove the little cover then you will see the nut to unscrew in there, it holds the red wire, which is connected to the hex nut post.....

FYI, i've done HID modification on my Z3 for both the headlights and my foglights and I used the original headlight/foglight wiring for power. I've had this for quite some time now and I haven't had any problems. So, it's not a problem to do it that way.
However, pulling power directly from the battery and using a relay switch is a neater way to do this electrically.
