i know the title sounds odd but i need help to figre out where an oil leak is coming from on my 318is. its a 94 and the oil seems to be leaking from an area above the a.c compresser but i cant see if beacuse of (what i think) is the spark plug coils are above it. is there anything that is prone to leak there and what might be causing the leak?

thank you

Look and see where the leak comes from! It may be from the cap nut over the chain tensioned spring, but it could be coming from anywhere on that side of the engine.

my guess is the valve cover gasket, right on the corner of the head it will leak down the side of the head and drip off the timing chain tenciner and land on the a/c compressor, I am not familer with 318's but that what hapens on the 6 cylenders. just a rule or thumb when lookng for a oil leak is start from the top and work your way down, also dont rule out the front timing cover gasket or timing chain tensoner holder washer (say that 5 times fast)
