I'm in the process of purchasing a new 3 series until I came across this lemon interior. How do I go about acquiring the option? Through dealer or website? Can someone elaborate? It looks fantastic in the pictures and I can't wait to see it in person.

Thanks

Just go to your dealer and order it. It is a "priority one" option, which means that you can order it but your dealer can't order it just for dealer stock. It can only be ordered for a car that has been sold. There is no charge for it but you must have leather as it is not available in leatherette.

I love mine, you will not regret it.

Is it available on coupes? I'm leaning towards the 328xi coupe. So you mean I'd have to purchase the vehicle in order to add the option? Is there a site explaining the different priority options? Why is it called priority one?

I just saw pics of your car and it looks amazing. Good color combination.

I have no idea why this wound up as a 'priority option', as it's a great looking color (especially on Saphire Black). It's pretty popular in the regions where its offered as a standard option. When I heard the name 'lemon' and that it was special order in the US, I was expecting a bright yellow color, but it is very subtle from the pics I've seen. The only thing I'd worry about would be resale value, and I only say this based on the image that 'lemon leather' summons when reading it in a description and the fact that it's hard to find it in another BMW for comparison. With pictures, it won't be a problem, and it may end up being a sought after color due to the rarity.

No to coupes, E90 only.

There is no priority options list, Lemon is it for the E90 in the US. The dealer must have a buyer before they order it, they just list a name in the order system. For you it would be just like ordering a car with Black interior and any other option you wanted if you couldn't find the exact car you wanted in inventory.

Don't know the reason why it's called that.

Really just a question- do you have a 2007 e92 335i ? I have never heard of an e90 335i. Also, you have a short shift knob? what exactly does that mean? I have not seen any short throw kits available, where did you get yours?

The e90 chassis designation is correct for both the '07 328i and '07 335i sedans. Only the coupe chassis got a new designation for '07 (went from e46 to e92).

As aftp302 said, E90 335i's are available for 2007 model year along with 328i/ix. No more 330 or 325 in the US.

My short shift knob is just that, a shorter knob, by a little more than 1". The one I got is one of 3 or 4 available through BMW, part #25 11 406 895, and cost me $92 with a BMWCCA discount. You just pull the old one off, take the seperate leather boot off and install the new one, which comes with the boot attached. Besides the effort to pull the knob off, it feels like your going to break something, the whole process took less than 2 minutes. It is enough of a difference to notice while shifting and there seems to be no side effects since the transmition is untouched.

Here is before and after pics.

I saw an E92 328Xi coupe in the parking lot of a local restaraunt yesterday with the lemon interior. The car was black on the exterior and I have to say it really did look nice. I wasnt sure I liked the idea of "lemon" until I saw one in person.

I really like the idea of a shorter shift knob. Would you mind taking a top view picture of the new one and posting it? Or if you know where I can view the available BMW shift knobs online that would work too.

Here you go. If you notice, the boot has more stitching as well.

Interesting, that looks a lot like the shifter on my G35.

Thanks for the quick response and the pic. I was hoping it had some aluminum trim on it somewhere (like a ring around the shift pattern or something) since I have aluminum trim coming in my 335. It seems like that would tie the look together a little more. It looks nice and clean against your black/lemon and burl though.

Is there an accessories catalog that has this and other purchasable accessories for the new 3 series?

It does have the Aluminum band around the base of the shift knob right before the boot starts.

There is another one that is the same size but looks the same as the stock knob. Try this link: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16768

Good info and pics all. I miss the days when chassis codes and model numbers made sense. What is the advantage of having a lower shift knob? just loks cooler ? I was waiting for the UUC motorwerks short throw shift to come out, but then it started snowing here, and I have to change my tires first.

Does anyone have the option list for a 2007 328xi E90? I am in the process of building one and am looking to see if I can add 17" wheels with all season tires without purchasing a sports package. Thanks...

There is no Lemon interior available for the coupe. Was probably a cream beige interior. They are both light but the cream beige is not a two tone interior like the lemon, it does not have the black carpet, doors, lower dash. The color is slightly different as well. I would have had a hard time deciding between the two if they were both avail for the E90.

Red is only for the coupe and probably vert. The only colors available right now for the sedan are beige, black, grey and lemon.

I posted a picture with lemon earlier in this thread, are you looking for a specific picture?
