I've noticed a significant increase in performance (driveability) now that my car has about 2200 miles. I wondered if anyone else has experienced the same. The surging in 1st gear has just about disappeared and the performance seems a lot crisper. My tailpipes were also black and sooty the first 2K miles and that seems to be improving also. Is it out of the question for BMW to have a rich "break-in" period programmed into the computer?

My dealer was emphatic that the car would act "better" after break-in and the car computer learning. They didn't put a timeline on it, though.

I have 1500 miles on my 335i coupe and it simply gets better and better. Maybe I'm still in the infactuation stage. I test drove a auto tranny, but bought a manual and it has so much outperformed what I expected. I love this car!!!!

kinda makes sense since the internals of the engine are better lubricated, and, as mentioned above, the computer has adapted to the sensor inputs and whatnots.

All I know is it's increased the "fun" factor! I'm sure it's not doing anything for the gas mileage though...:D
