View Full Version : 318ti help
EvilM3Chic 01-03-2007, 02:50 PM Ok so a friend of mine's family garage aquired a 95 white ti, 5 speed, cloth interior perfect body with the synchro in 2nd going out... the small car lot that actually owns it has just left it sitting at the garage for about 6 months now... Here's my problem, I wanna buy it and I probably can at the cheap price of a $1k BUT I already have a 95 M3 and an E30 i'm swapping an M50 in, so What would I do with it if I did buy it?
I owned a 96 ti when I was in HS about 7 years ago and I loved the car, I never had any problems out of it the entire time I owned it 44,000 miles to 175,000 miles... I also couldn't find much aftermarket support for the car either
What would you guys do, fix it and sell it for $3k or so, try to do a S50/2 swap or just Daily drive it? If I daily drive it I won't have a need for the M3 anymore because the E30 is my new project car... Or should I just not worry about it and let someone else find it... or Buy it and Part it out and make some money off of it that way?! I just don't think there is enough aftermarket stuff out there for the car, atleast enough for me to make it a project car after the E30 is done... maybe you guys can prove me wrong
Thanks in advance! :)
windnsea00 01-03-2007, 03:17 PM It sounds like a piece but there is plenty of aftermarket for the TI, you just have to buy for E30 and E36 :)
Bluebimma 01-03-2007, 03:22 PM Id buy it then fix it for a daily driver until my project was done, then resell it.
scabzzzz 01-03-2007, 04:15 PM ahhh are you kidding? buy it. and aftermarket? theres plenty of that available. the best parts you can put on a Ti would be M3 parts. Theres not much stock left on my car. So yea... buy it. Sell it. You can get more than 3k for it anyways. Ti's are hard to find that are in good condition.
PettitWC 01-03-2007, 11:53 PM buy it, no doubt. the possibilities are endless
SDKmann 01-03-2007, 11:58 PM Buy it, if I had a 1k ti around me Id buy it on the spot.
EvilM3Chic 01-04-2007, 10:38 AM I think I might, I just didn't want to buy it and not do anything with it... When I had mine I didn't know where to look for parts and it was always a hassle trying to find aftermarket stuff for it...
maybe I'll buy it and when i'm ready to get rid of the M3 i'll just put the S50 in the TI and part out the rest... who knows, I guess it wouldn't hurt anything owning 4 BMW's lol
sparkchaser 01-04-2007, 10:40 AM Buy it and then bookmark this site: http://www.318ti.org

There are plenty of options to do on the ti if needed! Maybe you can pass on the deal to another ti fan/member.:buttrock

no one is in my area...
Thanks for all the comments and help!
PettitWC 01-05-2007, 12:30 PM so...you gonna get it?
angel318ti 01-08-2007, 02:53 AM most of the "aftermarket" for the Ti is not aftermanrket at all. the best you can do to a 318ti is start swapping everything in it for parts from its cousin the M3. You'll get a more responsive, lighter and better handling car at the end.

workin on it... I'll let you guys know what happens :)
EvilM3Chic 01-17-2007, 02:51 PM here's the update... Talked to the guy that has it at his shop and he calls the guy that owns it, The rear-end is out and 2nd gear grinds when putting it in gear... and here's the kicker, he wants $2500 and will not go any lower
I sold my 318ti in perfect running condition for $3k I will not buy one that I can't drive for only $500 less... this seems a little ridiculous, I think he thinks he's gonna be able to get what he wants out of it just because its a BMW, he knows nothing about them
so it looks like I won't be getting it afterall :(
sparkchaser 01-17-2007, 05:57 PM That stinks.
Get the shop to tell him it will take $3k to get it road worthy and then offer him $1k.
