ideally you should take off your wing, but you don't have to if you dont want to, it is up to you.

it is not technically a "real" ltw flag, as in it is not a OE/OEM peice. It is just a homage/replica of it that is very close to how the original is.

How much work would it be to put one of these on an e30?

The same as it would be on a e36, the flags are pretty open to interpretation. MR 325 has one on his black car.

charcoal is more of a darker metallic color

silver is silver.

how easy is this to install? also what if you make a mistake in putting it on, what then? who do you recommend to put it on?

Difficulty can't really be judged, it is just like putting a big sticker on.

the instruction is written on the flags themselves.

just hoping for some more detailed directions, maybe from someone that has mounted them.

there's not much explanation needed, just follow how pictures show it and apply it like you would any other sticker/decal/etc.
