Edit: Forgot to mention, this happened in Singapore.
themadhatter 01-07-2003, 06:33 AM damn.......another reason to bash on female drivers. :D
ibizam3 01-07-2003, 07:02 AM How the heck do you lose control of a car that fits like a glove? How come this doesn't happen with the Toyota vans?!

there's a very easy answer to that question. Look at the photo and then read this:
How the heck do you drive a race bred car with high heals?
the look on her face is: Damn...my husband and/or son is going to kill me for this one.
:biglaughb
roadsleeper 01-07-2003, 11:19 AM Well, I honestly have no clue what happened. I got a call about this yesterday and was told that the 'crashee' got picked up in a Ferrari 360 Modena, so I made the assumtion that it was some spoiled little rich girl who stepped on the wrong pedal... but she doesn't look like the words "little" or "girl" to her...
Anyway, it's probably safe to assume the car is SMG equipped... but still the high heels were pretty stupid.
What a waste :(
///MDriver 01-07-2003, 02:06 PM Isn't SMG supposed to see walls coming and automatically downshift for you, then steer your car?:biglaughb;)
95DinanM3 01-07-2003, 02:14 PM Brings a tear to my eye:(
tlaselva 01-07-2003, 02:18 PM Almost brings me to tears to see people who are filthy rich, and don't have the appreciation for the cars they buy.
Obviously a rich family with no clue the performance potential of the M3, but just bought it cuz of the status and cost of the car.
I suspect she'd be better suited with a 325i, but won't consider it b/c it's too cheap. :95
monkey 01-07-2003, 05:19 PM Damn! I used to live right next to there at the Claymore Hill Apartments, many years ago. Knowing that area, I don't know how she would have done that. She must have just floored it.
m3urthy 01-07-2003, 11:26 PM That must really bite. Cars cost so much in singapore, same goes for insurance. I guess we now knwo why.

That's so funny. That's exactly what I thought when I saw the picture.:mdrbig
silver96 01-13-2003, 12:57 AM Why is the news paper article and the name of the road in English? Do they not speak (insert oriential language here) in Singapore anymore?
Oxcart 1 01-13-2003, 03:01 AM wait till she sues BMW for something lame and wins....
marwan 01-13-2003, 06:00 AM btw, i've heard that that crash was actually in Singapore, and in Singapore M3s coast around 200,000 US Dollars!!! :bawl
roadsleeper 01-13-2003, 12:11 PM silver96 - English, Malay and Mandarin are just 3 languages that are spoken in Singapore. Singapore was in fact a British outpost during the colonial era, and their grasp of the English language is far more comprehensive than that of people I know in countries where English is the dominant tongue.
marwan - With taxes, licensing and registration factored in, the cars usually end up costing 200% or more of their actual value. For example, for the price of a base M3 in the States I could get myself a VW Golf GTI. Cheap cars, cheap gas... imagine if they got rid of speed limits... Driver heaven :D

How do you know that? Dad might even be the BMW importer, or he might be a wealthy auto maven. The M3 could be someone else's car.
My daughter's driving a BMW. It's a car to her. Why does she have it? Because I bought it for myself years ago, took good care of it, and it's still a very reliable vehicle despite its 260k miles. OK, so this one is newer and fancier than the one my daughter's driving, but the point remains: you really don't have a clue as to the situation.

Endless possibilities as to who/what the driver could/couldn't be aside, if you drive a performance car with high heels you should be shot. That's just irresponsible and dangerous(as she found out).
I don't think people were necessarily bad mouthing the woman just because she drives an E46 M3, but because she was wearing high heels while driving it, and that ultimately caused her to plow a beautiful sports car straight through a wall.
///BHRpowered 01-20-2003, 11:46 PM well i rest my case on the thread about where to find new m3's in junkyards for parts- 40% are driven by women all the time
///M LIFEŠ 01-21-2003, 12:57 PM sad sad :(
