View Full Version : Car in for service 1/6/03
Kevlar 01-06-2003, 07:59 PM Dropped the car off today to get the passenger side door speaker replaced and rear deck fixed ... it was rattling like a mofo this morning, but when I got it down there, the rattle was barely detectable... with the same freakin' CD. Figures... Anyway, they said they would fix it.
But I get to cruise around in a Sebring Convertible :( for a while. I wish they had a BMW loaner, but the person in charge was out to lunch when I was there
///MDriver 01-06-2003, 09:26 PM Everything that is wrong with my car is never detectable when I go in to the dealer.
Why did they give you a sebring? When I get a loaner it is at least a 325.

They said the girl in charge of giving out the BMW loaners was no where to be found (out to lunch -- no idea when she was coming back). They tried to stick me in a Ford Focus  but I refused. They were only willing to comp me $25/day for a rental car... I said you better give me something... an upgrade, a free tshirt hat or something since I can't get a BMW loaner.
So I got an upgrade to a sebring... I figured I could drive with the top down, but all of a sudden it's dropping into the 40s tonight and well, the top is staying up and the heat is on :chix

Of course... mileage written down, i talked to my service advisor showed her all the items on the car and all the stuff I expected to be there when I come back for the car.
Kevlar 01-07-2003, 04:56 PM Picked up the car...
Replaced Passenger Door loudspeaker 1 65 13 8 368 244
Installed Velcro Tape for Rear Deck Rattle per SI 651301 (this sounds cheezy, but it worked)
DriveBy 01-07-2003, 10:31 PM Doesn't your salesperson make all the service arrangements? My salesperson gives me one of his personal loaners and sends me on my way. Third ///M from him. :)
Kevlar 01-07-2003, 10:37 PM Nope, no more dealing with the salesman... the salesman is out of the loop. It's all handled by the service department now.
I got the same deal at my dealership when I started to complain about the service to my salesman. The A$$hole said he didn't have any say in the Service Department.
Lame excuse. I asked him if that made any sense from a customer service standpoint? Got the stupid (beavis) look from my salesman.
Is that pretty common with BMW dealerships?

That's how it's been with every dealership... not just BMW, as far as I know. Normally the sales guy gets you to buy the car... once you pick up the car... he walks you over to the service department, introduces you to his favorite service manager and that's it... he's done with you.
///MDriver 01-08-2003, 02:02 PM I have a guy in the service department that I have known for years. He treats me well.

Actually I have found with BMW and Porsche the trick is to buy from the top salesperson (<3) at the dealership. (Find the real one(s) as they all brag.)
My salesperson at BMW has his own 'special' loaner cars and does everything for me including picking up and dropping off my car at the office. He cuts out an unbelievable amount redtape -- really makes the ownership experience much better.
