ive got a 92 325is with 138,xxx miles on it. i am plannin on turbocharching it but i was wondering if the motor would still be strong enough to handle boost with the proper supporting mods (ie. injectors, hg, arp studs, etc). i have seen alot of guys make good power with stock internals with these motors but i dont think ive ever noticed what the millage was on their cars
what do you guys think??

Boosted mine @ 195,000 KM's and its still strong & reliable.

Downing atlanta Supercharging kit (mostly).
Keep my car tip top always to begine with so no issues needed to be delt with.
I would suggest all fluid changes (- the washer bottle) breaks and a suspension upgrade first so you do not crash your ride before you get to use it's new potential in full.

It should be fine, however you should do a compression test, at that mileage, depending on how it has been maintained, the rings may not be sealing optimally; specifically if it has not been run hard enough to burn out carbon gunk.

+1 compression test.

check the motor over well first. if its healthy then boost is not a problem. the turbo went on my 525 at 230k miles, and on my 325 at a whole bunch as well.

You're not really looking at numbers as much as you are consistency. As long as all cylinders are within 10% PSI of each other you should be good.

well 10% of 190 is 19psi... isnt that a bit much to differ from cylinder to cylinder?

Actually it is 5% per Bentley's manual.

Well that equals out to about 10% in Tennessee terms :) Redneck engineering FTW!
