View Full Version : Fuse for convertible Blang 12-26-2006, 10:17 PM Does anyone know the fuse number for the convertible top? fun2drive 12-26-2006, 10:40 PM #7 Blang 12-26-2006, 10:52 PM So the trunk and the convertible top use the same fuse? fun2drive 12-27-2006, 12:39 AM #7 is the only fuze besides the one close to the battery that has is related to the convertible. #7 disables the trunk interlock function. If you are referring to fuzes for the top alone, I can't help because I don't know of any. What year convertible is this? 94-95 are semi-automatic tops and 96 on are fully automatic tops which relates mostly to the latching of the top into the windshield... Blang 12-27-2006, 05:17 AM It is a '95. When I push the button to put down the top I get nothing. 882001 12-27-2006, 10:50 AM push the top up about 8 inches to a foot until it gets hard to push, while holding the button down Blang 12-27-2006, 01:24 PM I'll try that, thanks. TC in SD 12-27-2006, 01:26 PM Did you maybe accidentally disengage the top motors? MParallel 12-27-2006, 02:09 PM Did you maybe accidentally disengage the top motors? That would a tough! Since you have to physically pull the emergency handle under the bench. But who knows?! Blang 12-27-2006, 02:18 PM No, I didn't disengage the motor. Thanks though. magic1 12-27-2006, 02:42 PM #7 is the only fuze besides the one close to the battery that has is related to the convertible. #7 disables the trunk interlock function. I have a 1994 325 conv. would my car have the same fuse?? I've also been having problems with my top. Blang 12-27-2006, 04:20 PM If you're asking about the #7 fuse, it's under the hood inside the fuse box, on the drivers side. At least that is where mine is. jeffy 03-03-2008, 03:00 AM i have a 1995 325i convertible it stop a foot away from the windshield any suggestion on how to fix this issue jeffy 03-03-2008, 03:01 AM my heating control doesnt work in all setting any suggestion on the problem MParallel 03-03-2008, 02:34 PM my heating control doesnt work in all setting any suggestion on the problem A little offtopic now aren't we :D deweyweekender 03-03-2008, 03:49 PM So I have all the trunk lining out my 1995 325i conv.. Where is this fuse by the battery? Maybe this is the wrong place to look too... I was in the middle of putting my top up with my car running. I reached over with my other hand and turned the key to turn the car off. (Something I've done 1,000 times before.) The top just stopped, I put the key back to run and nothing. I checked the three fuses referenced for the top in the fuse box, even changed them out. I pulled the emergency top release and finished putting the top up. Later on I lowered the top, popped both motors back in, push the switch(i've tried up and down) put the key in and turned it on(I've tried just one click, and two clicks) then waited 30 secs. Nothing! I heard about a fuse back by the battery, but can't find. I also heard that the switches are a common fault. How do I check to see if the switch is working. I know there is 6 pins in there with only 5 wires, but I don't know which pins to check for continuity. Any help is apprecated! adpinc 06-01-2008, 01:00 PM :help I have fuse #35 blowing periodically when operating the convertible top. It's driving me crazy. In the Bentley manual, it does not mention that fuse 35 is associated with the convertible top, but it is because when the top stops, that's the fuse that blows. It is a 25amp fuse. When that goes, the automatic locks go as well, which does make sense since they are used on the same breaker. I cannot seem to correlate the blowing fuse with a particular microswitch, though I suspect it is the one when the cover top latches down (S6, I believe). Has anyone else had this problem and truly remedied it? I'm carrying around with me a box of 25 amp fuses since I don't know when it is going to blow! libravcs 06-01-2008, 01:16 PM When replacing the battery in a 1999 E36 M3 Vert the other day, after removing the black plastic battery cover, I noticed a yellow fuse in the top drivers side corner of the actual battery compartment. That's correct. There is a clip on the right plastic trim on the trunk bottem where this fuse and its holder shoudl be clipped into. oomz1975 06-01-2008, 06:36 PM Fuse located in trunk next to battery... http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z63/oomz1975/WorkMotors026.jpg |
