Well, I spent my Friday off installing my new 4.27:1 med casing diff with 40% lock up!
Thanks to Gordon L. for loaning me his jack...it made things much easier!
Now the car really pulls and feels so much better, but the break in was a rather dizzing affair!
The instructions called for: 20 figure 8s lock to lock, then 20 left circles, and 20 right circles lock to lock! And now to complete the break in I need to stay below 85 mph for the next 1,200 miles. It's a good thing I only go 55 mph!

So if you're behind an E30 318is and see this under the rear of the car, it's me!

Edit: yea, yea, yea...I know I need to clean under my car!

The diff is from Metrix Motorsports on ebay, the cover I got from a friend in Ohio! The diff does not have a cover, you need to supply that yourself. The diff is a rebuild with no core.

I now have a 3.15:1 LSD, 4.10:1 LSD, and a 4.10:1 open diff sitting in my garage. Anyone out there need one of these? The 3.15:1 is the only Med size casing while the 4.10:1s are small casings.
Mileage on the 3.15:1 is about 22K and came from my M roady, the LSD 4.10:1 came from ebay and is in good condition, but I'm not sure of the miles. The other open 4.10:1 has around 170k miles and was the original diff in my 318is.

I'm trying!
I sold 2 cars and 1 more to go, then it will be whatever parts I can get rid of...of course with all the space I'll need to fill it with something! :devillook

Oh wow... would that 4.10:1 fit a E46 M3?
I've been considering one... but I got no money after last month's round of weight reduction mods.

I don't think it would fit, and if it did your engine would probably blow it up! It's the small casing 4.10:1 diff that came on most E30 318is'.

Ahh.. the small casing. I heard that there's a diff spacer for use with the small casing. IDK... I guess it's probably just better to get one made for my car than trying to fit something that's not.
