Well, from the MINI traffic on this forum, I don'tknow that I'm going to get much response, but I will give it a shot.
I have 2002 Cooper S, about 6 months out of warranty, 35k miles. Last night it ejected the #2 spark plug. This is a very common failure among MINI's. That I know of MINI (BMW) has not paid for any repairs to anyone claiming that modifications, including doing your own spark plug replacements are the cause of the problem.
My question is if anyone knows of any class action law suits in this regard. I'm not the suing kind, but I expect that I won't get any satisfaction from MINI and am looking at my options beyond the immediate need for a repair.
Can anyone recommend a way to find out if there is a class action underway?
If there isn't, is there anyone out there that wants to start one?

Sorry I haven't followed the thread as much on BF as I did on the MINI forum.
Yes, it stripped the threads. The plug is gone and I haven't taken a wrench to it yet as it happened just before we left town for the holidays. I just parked it and left town grumbling all the way.

I'm confused as to why you think BMW/MINI would be responsible for damage caused specifically by aftermarket parts. If they were factory plugs and the car is under warrantee then you can expect them to do something about it... otherwise you really have no case. I've heard of cars popping plugs out before and it has ALWAYS been aftermarket plugs. The problem is the plugs, nothing to do with BMW/MINI.
