Do you mean the second digit or the entire bottom line? If it's the line, you need to pull the steering wheel, (disconnect battery first for air bag saftey). Then pull the cluster and replace the bulb. You don't need to disconnect the cluster, just pull enough to get to the bulb. Be careful and read up on the procedure first.

NO!

Do not remove the steering wheel. The cluster can be taken out without removal of the steering wheel*

* I have a tilting wheel, so not sure if this also goes for cars without this.
Also, the cluster will come out towards the centre of the car. Don't try the other side; no chance.

Correct, You only have to remove the steering wheel if it doesn't tilt.

You can remove the cluster even without the tilt. Just pull on the top of the steering wheel as you slide the cluster towards the passenger side. AHardest part is getting the plugs off. Putting back is not as hard.

I had the plugs off fairly quickly, but getting them back was hell(!)

I don't think a bulb will fix the LCDs.

Try pushing (softly) on the lcd panel. Sometimes the backing doesn't sit tight against it and causes LCDs to not display.
