new to me 91 M5 came without front M badge. I have the replacement badge, but can't figure out how it attaches. Clearly, German engineering is over my head. My local dealer parts guy doesn't show a part that matches the tangs on the back side of the badge. searchedfor, but can not find any how-to links.

No, hes right, there are two metal tangs on the badge that bend around the proper grille. The proper grille will have two indents where you are supposed to mount the badge.

Is your problem getting the grille off?

Thanks de Witt. Exactly what I needed. Didn't grasp the fact that the tangs were metal and designed to wrap onto the grill bar. notch locates badge laterally. your link and manual will get me there.
