It was on the highway and i'd say buddy pulled by me going at least 160KPH, so I felt like playing that day and shifted down put the pedal to the floor. I passed him at 240KPH (im also pretty sure thats as fast as my car is going to go, haha) and you guys shoulda seen the look on his face, haha saw him later that day in town too, so I beeped and waved to add insult to injury.

my 318i is limited at 120 and there arent many more rpms to go after that...maybe you canadians got a different breed of super crazy fast 1.8L engines

Nothing too swanky, new ECU, Injectors, Spark Plugs+Wires, CAI, Exhaust, and a swanky new shift knob! haha.

But no seriously thats what the gauges read when it was at its max wether they're wrong or not, 240KPH...and i know that just because it says 260KPH it dosnt mean i can do it...because i said 240 was all it was giving.

If your car is stock, the speed governor stops you at 210km/h

BMW speedometers are notoriously inaccurate. I think the BMW spec for "acceptable" error is up to 10% +/- 2.5mph high, which puts an indicated 240km/h within the realm of reason for your car.

As for the Vette, I think it's safe to say the only "racing" involved was in your own mind. If the other guy had even breathed on the throttle in sixth gear, you wouldn't have seen him for long.

i think a 318 could go faster than 125mph for sure. my engine was invented by dinosaurs and it can still go faster than 125mph, his motor is newer and probably has more mods than mine.

sure, it was more of a ricer fly by than an actual race, but doesn't mean everyone has to tear this guy a new one :(

a stock m42 318is will be limited to 128mph. i used to own a 93 318is and i can tell you that it WILL eventually get to 128mph because i had mine there( speedo actually read about 132mph).

the issue here is that you can put my grandmother in the Z06 who has never driven a stick shift in her life and you could put me who has only driven manuals in his life in a manual m42 318is and i could start out a mile ahead of her and by the time i got another 1/4 mile down the road she would have passed me and put a couple blocks on me.

the m42 is a great engine for economy purposes and you my friend drive an economy car. your car is soo slow that i can skeet, relax for a while, and then skeet again before you can get up to the speed limit in your m42 318is.

i don't care if you are modded or not. trust me, i would love to have an m42 for a daily driver cause the gas mileage is excellent, but i would not be going around telling ppl that i beat even a toyota hybrid let alone a Z06!

They have 318is dragster cars here, insane burnouts & passes with some NoS & K/N filter mods. They leave most of the big, fat american "muscle" "cars" standing. Having seen some 318's driven in anger I'm not surprised about this kill at all, especially when considering it's modded and all. :D All of you haters just envious or really dont have any knowledge of cars, let alone sportscars like the 318is. teh corvette is overrated too.
