My g/f and I were relaxing at my place last night when some friends of mine got bored and came over. We were watching some special on National Geographic about ferrari's and we started talking about exhausts. One of the guys hadn't heard my 740iL's quad pipes, so another friend of mine suggested we all pile in and take it around the block. I'm nice, so I let him drive. :D

Over by cal state Fullerton, we were stopped behind a red light when a piece of unspecified rice pulled up next to us. It looked like possibly a geo metro or something, but it had the pep-boys rims chrome rims, a roll cage :confused, and the "fire extinguisher/nawz, yo!" bottle mounted on the roll cage. My friend decided to rev it and see what would happen. At that point the guy rolled forward right into the crosswalk and took the bait. When the light changed my friend punched it. The rice rocket instantly jumped ahead 1/8 of a cl... my friend didn't launch. :lol After an instant of false hope for rice boy, the seven pulled about 3 1/2 cl's to 60 and then my friend killed it, because we had to turn off to get on the freeway. As we did we got stuck behind a Yukon onto the freeway onramp, the unspecified rice did the expected flyby, and to top it off, ran a red light 500 ft down the street. :lol

Later, we calculated that with three of my friends and my g/f in the car, we weighed about 5300 lbs. :redspot

cliff notes: 740iL with 5 adults inside > pep boy's chrome rims :devillook

Yes, I was bored last night.:(

All auto's in the US. I would love to do a 6-speed conversion but I hear it's upwards of $9,000. Can't afford that right now. :(

Transporter was a 735i, with the M62B35 that they didn't import. :(

All 7's in the US are auto. Swapping a manual into them is very expensive because the driveshaft is the wrong length for the Getrag 6 so you have to do a custom fabrication. In the Euro market you can find manual 7's although 740's are quite rare. Because of litreage taxes, most car manufactures try to come in at 2.0ltrs. Hence, 320, 520, 718 and the like. Some are only rebaged to satisfy cursory inspections. Some actually have the engine they say. The euro market is complicated, particularly on the fringes of the EU.

718? Are you sure they made one of those? Imagine a 4400lb car with 138 hp.... probably the fastest BMW in the world... even faster than the 318. :D :shifty ;)

LOL.

So a ricer flyby is when the race is over and they just speed past you anyways like they won?

I feel bad for most ricers...cause I feel like they're kids, sometimes adults, without a lot of $$ that have to do that to a cheap car to make it desirable for them, and I genuinely feel bad :(
