to tell you the truth....i LOVE my stock speakers (non-HK).....they're obviously not the best and can be improved on...but they sound GREAT for being stock. i highly recommend getting a sub before changing the speakers....you'd be amazed at how well the stockers keep up. i get insanely crisp highs (at the last meet....had a couple guys ask me what tweeters i installed......stock baby!). this is why im contimplating whether or not i should install the boston pro's....oh well.....

Well here are my current plans for the system:

Head Unit: Undecided (Probably one of the new Alpines with the Dual Illumination)

Front Stage: Diamond Audio Hex Components
(5-4-Tweet in stock locations)

Rear Fill: Diamond Audio M3's or M5's (stock locations)

Subwoofer: 2 Diamond Audio 10inch M5's

Amplification: Crossfire BMF 75.4

Equalization: Crossfire 35.2(? not sure what the exact model number was that I was looking at).

Tsunami Wires - (undecided on the interconnects).

And one killer alarm install to protect everything ;-)

I'll post pictures of the install as it progresses....

Ha ha, never thought of it that way Saeed. No no, the system was built back in 1993 as a showcase for the new amps that Monolithic was manufacturing. Each amp puts out 500w. Each sub has its own amp, then two for the mids, and one for the highs. This is one of the best tuned systems I've ever heard. Absolutely pounding on Rap and Hip-hop, yet can be subtle enough for classical music and occasional bass drum. It's quite amazing!

I've actually had most of this before I got the bimmer:

Sony ES XRC900 head unit
Sony ES XDP-U50D Digital Pre-Amplifier
Sony CDX-81 10 CD Changer
Sony MDX-65 6 MD Changer
Soundstream SA-245 5-channel amp (35x4@4ohms and 150x1@2ohms).... runs entire system
Kicker Solobaric 10" in sealed box
H/K speakers
Monster cable interconnects

...Awesome sound for a single amp and factory speakers. Everyone always asks what kind of speakers I have and are amazed that they are factory. The Kicker makes all the difference (especially with the back seats down).
I want to eventually upgrade to new speakers in the front and a bigger amp.

Since I see a bunch of sweet looking systems posted...I was wondering if anyone competes on the IASCA or USAC circuits?

Maybe I'll see some of you in the North East events. I'm trying to get ready for a Connecticuit show in April(?). But there is lot's to do and not much time so I may just be a spectator for that one.

Factory stereo in '95 M3 is gawdawful terrible and was the second upgrade designated for the car.

headunit: Nakamichi CD-40z
equalizer: Eclipse 2101
amplifier: Mcintosh MC-420
front speaker components: Diamond Audio Hex S500s and MB Quart RMC-100 mids
subwoofer: JL Audio Stealth

Soooo much better and the car only gained a few pounds with the new setup.
