The basics:
- red/black leather automatic
- 182k miles
- pioneer cd h/u, heated seats work, power works on everything.

I'm going to assume that it is still the nikasil liners, and has not been swapped out. I drove it quite a bit and it's a strong engine that, IMO, needs new plugs, filters, etc to be a great running car. If you/anyone is interested in pursuing the car I will happy to have a PPI done for anyone, at a good local shop (Precision International on Sardis Road in Asheville has done the work on the car since 10k miles).

A few known issues with the car:
-pass side foglight housing busted/gone (you can see the hookup dangling in the pic)
-tiny leak from brake system somewhere up front, likely the MC from what I could see. Owner says she just keep an eye on it and tops it up every few months
-owner was hit in rear a long while back, car was repainted in places, now clearcoat is peeling from c pillars (original BMW Brilliant Red paint has no clearcoat)
-rear right window regulator frozen, all others ok
-trans mode selector switch is old and sometimes doesnt work. The fix is, I swear this is true, to blow hard on the switch while operating it. Worked every time for me!
-some sort of drivetrain hum, possibly an old tire in the back, I'm not sure. Didn't change with rpm, more speed-dependent.
-couple of light bulb failure messages, I cleaned all fuses and they went away.
-check engine light was on, I gave the car a proper Italian tune-up and it went away. So my guess is the plugs and/or O2 sensors are getting old.

Overall it's a GREAT car that needs a little TLC to be a really great car, or nothing to be a fine daily driver. I had a ton of fun driving it, it really pulls well after 4500rpm, trans does not hiccup or protest to sudden or manual inputs, and the whole car still feels very solid.

Posting for a friend, the owners' # is 828-684-7968. THEY ARE OUT OF TOWN UNTIL DECEMBER 28. If you want to contact them after that, please tell them you were referred by Mark. If you want to arrange a walkabout or drive in Asheville, or to talk to me about the car (I'm a lot more car savvy and BMW savvy than they are) you can contact me at mdizzles4 at gmail dot com. Or on my cell at.

I have been given authority to sell the car for them if need be. That can include a deposit for a buy when they get back, or possibly an outright sale while they're gone if I can get the title before they leave.

Asking price: $4500, sellers *very* motivated so just call and make an offer, seriously! Edmunds has the value around $3000, KBB.com has it anywhere from $5000-$6000. The owners put a sign on it that said MAKE ME AN OFFER and they asked me to sell it for them while they're out of town. So, seriously folks, I think an offer of 3000 would seal the deal, no problem.
