View Full Version : e46 m3 vs. ferrari 360
JCFreakCV 12-14-2006, 11:08 PM okay I was just cruising down Sunset Blvd in LA on a Sat night at 1am right in the club area. This black Ferrari 360 Modena with a tubi exhaust comes racing up next to me in 1st and then lets off the gas letting the amazing sound of his engine roar. The car sounded so awesome. We were both hit a red light just coming into beverly hills. I look over and its this older guy with this gorgeous young blonde. I ask him if he wants to go, thinking I've got nothing to lose. The light turns green and I had a great start not burning out much at all with my 285s. I was a half a car length ahead at the end of 1st. I hit 2nd and then I had a full car on him. We ran until about 80 until we had to stop for traffic. It was a great feeling

Schnell325 12-14-2006, 11:09 PM Nice kill....too bad traffic was around.
dinans3m3 12-14-2006, 11:13 PM you may have beat him but hes clearly the true winner macking a young blonde FTW. ;)
ProjektMayhem 12-14-2006, 11:15 PM I ask him if he wants to go, thinking I've got nothing to lose.
and he said?
cashfromthahash 12-14-2006, 11:16 PM Nice kill! I wonder what would have happened if you kept going. Nice car by the way too!
JCFreakCV 12-14-2006, 11:16 PM and he said?
He gave me the nod and reved up his motor
savage217 12-15-2006, 12:30 AM That guy probably doesnt know how to drive. Good kill none the less.
JustinE36M3 12-15-2006, 12:53 AM that e46 is hideous. those wheels, that wing...and are those eyelids? and i find it very hard to believe that you pulled that much on him. i doubt he was pushing it
Deuuuce 12-15-2006, 04:16 PM Would JCFreakCV agree, if he's stock, he beat the driver, not the car?
How well do you know your Ferraris? You sure it wasn't a 308/328/348 instead?? If it really was a 360, I'd say you beat the driver, cuz that car should be a little faster, but hey if you killed him that's cool.
I see you are local. If you ever want to go for a run, let me know.
JCFreakCV 12-15-2006, 05:26 PM Would JCFreakCV agree, if he's stock, he beat the driver, not the car?
oh yeah I totally agree, I figured I might be able to out drive him which is what I did
gti1689 12-15-2006, 07:44 PM ...i guess i'm the only one who doesn't understand this story.
the ferrari has what, like 75 more hp than you? they trap faster, run faster 1/4 mi and 0-60 times, yet you beat him. i'm not sure, but are they lighter than your car?
whatever
etjoyride 12-15-2006, 09:39 PM That must have been a nice feeling....for now ;)
BavariaMotorist 12-15-2006, 09:46 PM Must have been awesome to beat him :)
360s aren't THAT fast I don't believe. God bless the 430s
mert1 12-15-2006, 09:59 PM That must have felt great. But a decent driver would have killed you. If that 360 was a F1 they have launch control which is basicaly hit the gas and go. If it was a 6 speed the guy didn't know how to drive. I raced a 355 from dead stop once and I hit it perfect off the line and he still beat me by about a CL by the time we hit about 90mph. I am sure the 360 is a bit faster. If I am correct the 355 is 380hp. and the 360 is 400hp. and a bit lighter then the 355.
Ingenere 12-16-2006, 12:40 AM It sounds like the Ferrari driver had a CBBSCD on board and activated! (Carbon Based Biological Speed Control Device). Otherwise known as a the factory installed blond...I know about this as my cars are equiped with one from time to time! :)

Yeah, they act as HP Display Dampers.
There are guys who don't track their cars or race and feel like they are "abusing" the car by taking it to the redline. This guy may have been one of them. I'm sure he had other things on his mind and the girl still liked the "race" anyway.

:lol i just noticed that when i read your post. thats probably one of the ugliest m3 i've seen.:embarrasm
jiggynites 12-17-2006, 11:40 AM yeah man what have you done to the once beautiful M :(
and I def believe your story you were the better driver besides he was distracted by the blondie.
Obviously stock for stock the 360 is lighter and more powerful than a M3
but driver play an important role in the final outcome.
TonysBimmer 12-17-2006, 12:06 PM Yeah I know what you guys mean, I have an Asian Speed Control Unit (not rice, more like smooth silk) in mine that activates from time to time without warning. Sounds a really loud alarm that follows me into the house.:eyecrazy But I would never uninstall the unit because of the other "benefits" :D
Yeah diriver is half the vehicle. It doesn't matter much if there is a high-performance car with a low-performance driver. I bet that Ferrari came with a year supply of Viagra too (oh, that's just mean, man) but it's still nice to be able to say you ran one.

Armo95 12-17-2006, 01:28 PM 360s aren't THAT fast I don't believe.
They can run mid-high 12's @112-113mph with the right wheelman ... they're pretty fast. In this case, it's obvious the Ferrari driver didn't know what he was doing.
Great driving!

I guess you're right. "Slow" and "ferrari" don't fit in the same sentence.
EDIT: I didn't know how light this car was. Sorry!

:lol :lol :lol
Too true.
