after months of collecting dust in my garage, a set of H&R sports and Bilstein Touring shocks were finally installed today........and OMG what a difference! body roll was really reduced (still leans a little in the corners, but it's 200% better than before). and the ride over bumps is about the same as than before.

altho w/ all this great handling, i was kinda disappointed i can't easily get the rear end lose at this one turn by my house :devillook: hehehe.....i guess i'll have to enter it a little hotter next time.

i'll try to get some pics up next week, the springs should be settled in by then.

Cool! Glad you like it! As we know the E21 has alot of body roll and alot of oversteer from the factory. Aftermarket suspension tuners have done what they can do reduce the oversteer, with out increasing much understeer. It will take alot more effort to get the tail to slide, but once you do, you will realize that its now easier to control a slide!

yep, i totally see whatcha mean now.....took it for a run the other nite. i could take this one turn almost 10mph faster now, and the rear end swung out a little but not nearly as much as it used to. and yeah it's definatly a lot easier to control in a slide.

now i just need a lsd :)

If you get an LSD you might as well throw on the rear sway bar too there buddy. Then you can lift up that inside rear tire all you want:buttrock

I think im getting ready to put on some H&R springs with bilstein HD( or sports). Anybody have a setup like this?

yeah, i wanna get a rear sway too. i heard good things about the suspension techniques swaybars.

evan e21: i think a bunch of people have both setups. both the HD's and sports have the same stiffness, it's just that the sports are cut an inch or two shorter to better accomidate shorter springs. oh, and i think you can choose 3 or 4 different heights where the spring perch goes for the rear sport shocks.

my H&R's didnt seem to lower the car that much (or as much as i kinda wanted). but the handling improvement is still awesome :) .......coil-overs here i come!!

Jbob,
GC sells a kit for 399. A screamin deal with your choice of spring rates. I'd take your HR's off and sell um. Then save and extra hundred or so and get the coilovers.

my .02 cents

hehehe, u know that happend to the previous owner of these springs, he had them on w/ bilstein sports and sold them for coilovers. 399 is awesome, i thought coilovers would cost me above 700.

Ground Control is a no frills place. They don't bend you over for their parts. We recently installed a full coilover kit from GC with camber plates on the 73 Mazda RX-2 on the autocross page of my website. The car had koni adjustables on all 4 corners already. She sits low and flat now even with the solid rear axle. It's a track only car so it doesn't have any smog stuff and the ground clearance is pretty low. To top it all off, we purchased a 4 barrel carburator manifold for it. That little pocket rocket will be good for 220 horse at the wheels, with an 10000 (yeah that's right 10 thousand) rpm redline. We'll be spanking ZO6 vettes in no time.

lol

10,000rpms, that's crazy......does it make a hi-pitch whinning noise?

by the way, just got some sumitomo 205 tires put on today :D . i haven't gotten a chance to really try them out yet :devillook but so far the ride is a lot quieter.
