my same post from the e36 forum...just thought i would post here too.

hey guys im getting this really weird sound from my clutch that just started today...when i depress it this weird sound starts?! it sounds like the clutch is rubbing against something? i really dont know...

that weird sound is when i depress the clutch.

Sounds like the throw out bearing (release bearing). Ive got the same problem. If it just does it when you push the clutch thats probably it. You can drive on a bad throw out bearing for awhile, just noisy and annoying. If it fully goes out you are screwed though. Might as well put in a whole clutch kit while you are in there changing the bearing.

Sounds like a release bearing
