I was driving donw the Hwy and saw a Yellow crotch rocket coming off the entrance ramp on to the hwy as I passed it. He pulled up along side and I hit it. Race on. He dropped in behind me and we went from 70ish to 145... at 140 he pulled to the right and it looked like he was going to pass me:confused. I think he had enough left to do it too. There was a truck in that lane up ahead and he decided not to and dropped back in behind me. My Traction control light came on (yellow triangle in the cluster) and I started backing off the throttle and moved to the right lane after we passed the truck.
Good run, He would have had me. I concede defeat. Now back to the drawing board for MORE POWER.

lose some weight or maybe up the psi a tad? How much are you running and how much can the motor take reliably?

20lbs would probably be enough to take the bike.

Do they make turbo kits for the 540i, maybe time for an engine swap.

I am around 7.2lbs per horsepower so dropping some weight wouldn't hurt.
The stock motors only take around 8 psi intercooled. More boost will require pistons, rods, and head gaskets plus some head work.

I don't know of anyone turboing a 540i. To hard due to the limited space.

What supercharger kit are you running? How's the tuning?

It's a VF kit and the tune out of the box was crap. With my tune I picked up 15 rwhp and 64 wtq.

why did he get behind you to begin with? were there other cars in the right lane when you initially got on it? usually the bike will jump way out in front and later get reeled in at higher speeds by a truly capable car, even from a 70mph roll on. you described it the other way around...but i guess a bike can't jump out in front if he's directly behind the car he's racing. to be honest with you, i think this may have been less of a race and more of a game of staying on your bumper for the rider. then again i suppose it could have been an "older" sport bike giving her all she's got. anyways, way to concede defeat...i applaud you for a valiant effort. :buttrock
