Im not sure how believable this is but looks to me like its pretty hard to launch an M6. I didnt realize how fast the euro lancers can be..
All in all some nice car comparisons though. Enjoy

Damn that NSX was faster than I expected. Guess it's the weight! Thanks for the link.

Proof that slower cars can win in some of the BS stories you see on here... BTW it killed me to see the way some of those cars were driven.

they couldnt launch any of those cars with f1 tranny's...

but they pull off sub 13's in a stock evo and nsx.

Why did they have a Ferrari 512? Wasn't the last year of production like '96?

hmm get your facts straight dude...Keiichi Tsuchiya (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keiichi_Tsuchiya) is a pro driver and the drift king ... but probably this is what he does best here M5 Drift (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oRDHY22cIY)

ehh, entertaining but the driving was severely lacking on some of the cars. i find it funny that they drove the shit out of the jap cars though. But couldnt break into the 12's in an M6 and even did a 12.5 in a new z06..lol thats pathetic. The 14.0 of the sts-v was also pretty sad...Drove the 911 pretty good though!

I agree with the people complaining about the driving in the video. How the hell did the NSX run like a 12.5? The 911 was the only car that consistantly ran near its potential because it was an automatic.

12-13-2006, 04:59 PM
The professional driver, the guy who is the drift king and who was drving the evo the most was the better of the two drivers but the times for the z06 and the m6 were pretty bad considering what there capable of.

What the hell? The cars are cool, but these guys suck at driving. The guy that drove the 512TR and the ZO6 shifts as if he's afraid the knob's going to burn him. Cool video, but retarded results.

Top Gear is not CLOSE to that bad...

Just making an example.

We all know which car is faster than the other, and we dont need some pro japanese race car drivers to tell us that...

But apprently to them a 290 hp car that weighs 3153 lbs (nsx) can beat a car that has 500 hp and weighs 3909 lbs (m6)...:help

m6 owners beware of my 335 with 400 lbs of weight reduction and 10 more hp than a nsx!

its an NSX-R . Not your standard NSX. More power less weight key to going faster. For those asking, if your not use to shifting ina Ferrari it is a bit odd . I have my shifting down pat and like the gate guide. They are easier to rev match and less likely to mis shift -kind of idiot proof unless you are a real IDIOT :D For your info i can outlaunch an RS4 with my 92 NSX in which i did last week. ;)
I think this new auto wannabe manual crap for the M-cars kills their take off. If mated with a nice MANUAL 6 speed they would be animals out of the hole.

SMG III is much better for racing than an MT. They shift much faster and if they are equiped with launch control you can take off faster than a 6 speed also.
I agree with you that the NSX-R is fast and would compete with most those cars, but I really hate how they showed the Z06. Those times were what the old one would run, the new one would destroy everything they had except the porshe.

i drove the new M5 and found it quite difficult to launch. The e46M3 was better suited and easier to handle. Once rolling i agree shifting is precise and lightning fast. Maybe its just the v10 motors or the DME feedback :dunno.. The e39 M5 was also a bit sluggish in first. Kind of feels like you forgot how to drive a manual. Paddle F1 shifting as in the Ferraris would be better suited for these new V10 M powerplants. I have yet to try out the new E-gear in the lambos as i dont know anyone with one yet so i cant comment on that one but its should have been much faster than that in the 1/4. Yeah i dont like the way the ZO6 is downplayed either. Still i know it can basically run circles around every car there except the new TT Porsche which wouldnt be too far behind.

Actually thats not a 512 TR. Its a 1996 F512M. They were of a limited production and were 13 second flat cars.

Ferrari gerboxes really arent that difficult to use, however that car was equipped with a 5 speed gearbox, and has the racing pattern. First gear is down closest to the driver and 2nd gear is where our 1st gear is.

it is apparent to me that those drivers seemed to do the Japanese cars justice but couldn't drive the other cars.

when the best time with the Z06 is 12.1 then that means you suck driving that particular car.

to me the Z06 with both drivers being equal and knowing how to shift quickly should be able to beat all of those cars.

properly driven it would still beat that porcshe. the Z06 is a mid 11 car when you have the right driver behind the wheel.

Yep. They are awesome cars. My brother has a 1988.5 Testarossa, and back in the day dad had a 1978 512BB. Great cars. I grew up in Ferraris and now I miss them SO much.

Id really like a 328GTB for a DD. One day after law school maybe...

funny you say that. My brother has a white 1990 TR and a 308GTSi for DD :) Even though they are over 16yrs old, they still are fun to drive. I love the power uptop but i hate the Flintstone braking.

Exactly.

The Japanese cars are faster in Japanese journalism just like American cars are faster in American journalism and Euro cars faster in Euro mags...

In best motoring the nsx and such always do incredibly well, here in the U.S. the magazines at the mag stand are all about the corvette/mustang, in my western europe home the m3/911 are the winners !

What i would like to see is each car in that video driven by someone who will do it justice. i think that the german cars and the vette would have done much better.

to me those drivers were not good at all. i don't care if one of them was a drift king or not. just cause someone can drive a car sideways doesn't mean he can drive it correctly in a straight line( as dumb as that sounds).

it was painfully obvious that they sucked at shifting. and could only launch the japanese cars.

i want to see all the mag drivers race against each other in their prospective cars.

actually first gear is where our second is and second is where our third gear is but yes you are right they are not hard to shift at all infact they shift very very fast( and ohhh that click click sound when you shift) and that car was the 512M.
