View Full Version : Out of Commission
ArcticSilverM3 01-02-2003, 02:11 PM Well, it's all over. I was on my way to Chili's on Mill last night and I was making a sharp right hand turn and lost control of the car. I crashed into a curb and flew up onto the median and landed back down on the road. Side airbag and side window airbag went off on the driver side. Cops came and blocked off the street. Gave me a ticket for not being able to control my vehicle. My car was basically sitting on the ground. Front left rim is dead, back one looks bent. Metal parts flew all over the road when I hit the curb. The car is in some Tempe towing companies yard right now. I'm still in shock. I walked out to the garage this morning, thinking it was all a dream and there was no car. What a reality check. Anyway, I need to find a place that does good work on BMW's. I was thinking about Bavarian Motors Limited on 16th street, but I don't know if they do major repairs. God...what a great start for 2003.
DOH!!!!
Im sorry to hear that man. I dont really have recommendations for a bodyshop, dont go to the chapman one on scottsdale, thats all i can tell ya. Hopefully its just some suspension parts. You better still come to the meet on the 19th, you are more than welcome to ride shotgun with me if you need a ride. :)
MattE21 01-02-2003, 02:23 PM jeesh

HamannE46 01-02-2003, 03:31 PM Pat how far away from Chili's were you?
ArcticSilverM3 01-02-2003, 03:54 PM I took the exit before Rural off the 202. I think its Priest & 52nd street. I took a left onto Rio Salado. Then I followed that until a really sharp right hand turn. I was so close. Looks like I'm towing my car to a shop on Scottsdale Rd. called BMW Collision. I guess they are the only authroized repair shop for BMW's. Damage looks real bad. Hopefully they can start work on it today or tomorrow. I'll try to get some pictures today when I go down there. But, be prepared...it's not pretty. :(
Ah, thats the shop i was talking about not to go to i think. They do sloppy work, I had a dent taken out and there was a bunch of overspray etc. Just make sure you pick up the car during the day, when it is sunny outside, and look over it CAREFULLY before you take it back.

HamannE46 01-02-2003, 07:42 PM Ouch:bawl Doesnt look as bad as I thought. Sorry again.
How'd the 'rents take the news?
Sean
ArcticSilverM3 01-02-2003, 07:47 PM They were just glad no one got hurt. I got a little speech on how my car is not a toy and it needs to be driven with caution. Anyway, its being towed to Chapman Collision tomorrow. I hope they do good work.
HamannE46 01-02-2003, 07:51 PM Pat....is it RENTAL CAR time !
ArcticSilverM3 01-02-2003, 10:26 PM Haha...good idea. I don't think my parents want me driving anything for a little while. I need to lay low and just hope chapman collision does good work. I'm just not sure it will be done by the 19th. Keep your fingers crossed.
Bart C 01-02-2003, 11:21 PM Sorry man, at least you're OK!
Bav.LTD is a good place for repairs, I don't think they personally do any body work.
AzN_M5 01-03-2003, 12:49 AM That really sucks Pat. Come to think of it, I actually saw you get off and take the left turn off the freeway. I was sitting in the other left turn lane. I kept looking back at the bimmer thinking it was you. Then you made that first right turn off of rural and I made the turn onto university instead. Jeez, assuming that was you, I was the last person to see you in a functioning 323. Last person that knew you anyway. :bawl
:mechstuck
BTW, see about the place Sean went to. They had his car back on the road in like a week and a half. Your damage doesn't look that bad compared to Seans. In any case though, I hope where ever you go will have you up and running before the 19th. Either way, still come to the meet and hop a ride with someone.
That really does suck though. All the more reason why you need an M3. At least with an M3, turns like that can be taken.
:bawl  :mad111: :pissed:
:flamethro "323i handling" :bigun2:
ahhhhh man, that sux pat......hope chapman can fix it good and fast.
also, didn't the dealer scratch up the underside of the front bumper a few months ago? is that gonna be fixed too?
Bayerisch_323 01-03-2003, 03:30 AM if u still have the option...go to Scotts Coach Works. They do GREAT work and we have personal experience with them. gimme a call if u wanna hear our story.
rgrmorris 01-03-2003, 04:46 AM arg..damn that sucks pat. I think Chris is on the right track, definately time to get an M so your car can better handle your driving style:evil2
Hope everything goes well and you get it back quick.
Antonio 01-03-2003, 04:48 AM OMG DUDE!!! That is freaky that you mention that turn. One of my good friends from high school did the SAME EXACT thing to his car around that turn. He hit the curb and went up on the median. His rims cracked like that as well.
Sean-remember the ass hat with the black 99 Mustang GT?:) Not mine but the other one. That's the guy I'm talking about. For shame:(
ArcticSilverM3 01-03-2003, 08:40 PM Yeah, the cop said quite a few cars wreck on that turn. Too bad it had to be me. Now I have to just sit and wait. But, I have been doing a lot of thinking about my next car. I think I wanna go with an E36 M3. Maybe 1998-1999 and just have fun with it. Mod it up...you know. The original plan was a 2003 330ci, but I don't know if I want to spend that kind of money right now cuz I'm already droppin' a lot to get the 323 fixed.
AzN_M5 01-04-2003, 12:56 AM Hey Pat, if you're interested in an E36 M3. iAutohaus over on Broadway has a cosmos black 5-speed w/ roughly 20,000 miles on it. Matt, Eric, and Doug saw it with me on the dyno day. It is immaculate. Harmon Kardron, grey interior, all options(seat warmers, power seats, etc.), rear wing w/ built in brake light, and new tires (Michelin Pilot Sports w/ no miles on them). Even the wheel wells are perfectly smooth on the inside. The back seat looks like it has never even been sat in. That car is S-I-C-K. And I believe it is going for approximately $28,000 w/ BMW certification.
AzN_M5 01-04-2003, 12:58 AM Here are some pics too.

Iniquity 01-04-2003, 02:04 AM Check with Alex of Eurospeed... I remember he was trying to sell his car.. a '97 M3 I believe.. dunno if he sold it yet.. but he was even considering a trade for a lower end BMW + cash for his car..
Antonio 01-04-2003, 02:09 AM Dayum that car is clean!!! If I was going to hit up an E36 M3 that would be the one without question, especially after I talk them down to 25k;)
LLuke 01-04-2003, 06:08 AM Shit I'm sorry to hear that bro. Tempe really has some hairy roads. I can't say I'm suprised to hear about the pigs kicking you while you were down..typical. I say get that bad boy fixed and get back on the road!

haha LLuke... Is the man always holding you down? :12:
I like your site btw, good job.
Miggl 01-08-2003, 02:28 AM hey man,
Sean recommended Scottsdale Autobody. They do a kick-ass job, my car is currently there. However, the big downside is that they take their sweet-ass time. I haven't had my car in over 2 months now, and i'm supposed to get it back next week. That's what they said last week, too. If you want a great job done on your car, take it there, if you're not worried about how long they take. http://www.scottsdaleautobody.com. Let them know I referred you.
Good luck, and sorry to hear that, man....... believe me, I know how bad it sucks!!
