Ok. So on my lunch break I'm headed down the main street (speed limit 40mph), Im goin farely fast about 50ish since I'm in a rush. This civic hatchback (looked like a 93') with black rims, rear sway bar visible, intake and exhaust pulls up right next to me then takes off right by me. So I was what the hell, why not, and get right behind him. We pull up at a red light with both of us in front, and he's reving up like he's going to launch. I've never ever raced from a dead stop before so this was my first time to really launch. So I crank it up to like 3,200 rpm's and the light turns green. We both drop our clutches and my tires are spinning like crazy sliding around (I have 255 rear tires so I thought I'd be able to launch a bit higher than regular, but I was wrong). So he's ahead of me until the end up 1st, then we shift into second and I pull on him pretty hard. I'm up on him at the end up 2nd by about 1 CL. I hear his Blow out valve through every shift, then by the top of 4th I was ahead about 4 CL's. After I heard the blow out valve I figured he was gonna go right by me, but that wasn't the case . Good run regardless. My 97' M3 is pretty much stock except for all my suspension and wheels.

Some kid I know at a local shop has this red turbo civic hatch and I always see him driving like a bat out of hell around town. I saw him run at the track once and it ran a mid 15 second quarter mile. All of his friends were making fun of him, it was hillarious. Those turbo Hondas can be very, very fast - but not all of them... :D

lolz...nice kill man....imagine you raced him in the highways (top end)...the outcome was probably a little better :D

Just imagine if you got a good launch what the outcome would have been. You never know he could have had one of those fake ricer blowoff valves from ebay but if that was the case you prolly would have killed him.

Not to be rude or anything but i am giving you good & major rep & props for beating a turbo honda but i'm surprised you beat him that bad.. an average even bolt on t3/t4 turbo kit on any B series swapped honda is easily capable of low 13s if tuned properly, but of course there is a lot of honda guys out there that just think they can slap a turbo kit right on & expect to run stock ecu with no problem. Anyways good run.

Im going to agree with notdownfornj. It was prob a single cam bolt on kit. Ive raced a old turbo civic hatch, the ones that look like CRXs from the front but have the more gay back end. He had a basic bolt on kit with no intercooler and I stayed right next to him in my 533i all the way to 100 and then I started to pull.

Ya, I figured the same thing. I think he had a turbo on a single cam stock motor for his car. Otherwise, if there was no turbo I would have killed him alot worse than what I did. Regardless, it was fun and definitely an experience. Thanks for all the support guys!

Single cams aren't slow either. My old hatch made 210whp on 12psi on a D series motor. Considering the car was 2100 pounds that car easily beat all sorts of M3s.

Maybe so but do you have any idea how hard it is to get that kind of ET from a FWD car that is that powerful and light without slicks? On the street, with street tires, unlikely.

Plus, this guy may have had a 50state legal set-up tuned for pump gas.

Turbo Hondas are fast..something doesnt sound right..I have an M3..But i also have a turbo vw golf 8v that was making about 200whp and i destroyed an M3 on the freeway.. I came accross a couple of H22 equipped civics even quicker. M3 3200lbs....Honda Civic..Maybe 2400 lbs? It wouldnt take much more than 160 hp in that light car to compete with the M3. In a straight line that is

I say about 200 whp on the hatch would destroy the E36 M3 on highway or drag.

i was about to say, i know m3s are fast but... im not a die hard honda guy or anything, but a couple of my friends and i are building a honda race car, and with nothin more than a motor swap it was running 9's in an 1/8. we have now chipped the ecu and put on a t3/t4 and sir that thing will haul a$$.

A friend traded in a S2k on a 2000 turbo si and claimed it to be just a quick as the S2K... We did one run and when were were done I had to ask if he missed a shift. He sold the car about a week later! lol
I know there are some real fast hondas but if there not tuned... OWNED!
