I'm coming home from work on the end of the 110 FWY and I see a modded RX-8 from a distance, pulling up fast in my rear view. It was grey, slammed, Mazdaspeed front bumper, and was sporting some big performance wheels, it looked pretty sick. I'm on the phone with another BF.com member (T N D) discussing his widebody build, tell him to hold for a sec and put the phone down.

The RX-8 flashes his lights on and doesn't even slow down to match my speed. I see him come up right on my ass and then he gets in the lane next to me for a pass. I'm going about 75 mph and I hear him gun it past me, I quickly down shift to fourth as he pulls about a half carlength ahead. Almost immediately I begin to match his speed and then I begin to pull ahead pretty quickly. There was a car coming up in my lane fast, but I had put so much distance between the RX-8 that I pulled in front of him. By the time I shutdown around 120 I put buslength between us:buttrock!!!

After slowing down the RX-8 was flashing his highs at me:confused but he got on the 47 onramp and we didn't have a chance to run again. I'm pretty shocked at the outcome of the race since I've raced RSX Type-S's and hatchback SI's that have put up a much better fight.

Was it you that built the M44? Or.. what engine are you running?

Nice kill. You should easily beat one unless they are boost, then they can put up a better race .

Which car did you Mod? The 98 or the 00?

The 00 e46 328ci is my gf's car and is slightly less modded than my 98 328i. I haven't made a cardomain page for the e46 yet, but you can check the mods on my e36 by clicking on the link under my sig.

your car is tits m3mobbin! nice kill!

rx8's only have an appreciable amount of power in high rpms, and still it's not enough

Even some of the turbo ones I'm not very impressed with. Seems like they should be putting better numbers down when boosted, especially following the legacy that is the RX7.

True, the Renesis has high compression rotors to give the rx8 the na performance and the drivability of a daily car. It is not design to replace or inherite the performance of its predesessor.

By nicely modded I am assuming you meant with body stuff.:D They don't make very good power, but they handle like a dream. Good kill.

I'm guessing with that kind of beating he was probably auto.

It didn't start under the hood. Broke a rear fuel line that spilled out onto the exhaust.
