Actually, when contracting VF. They said the only BIG difference between the two was the tuning. And he said you could use an OBDII with OBDI software. Vice versa.
well tuning is the major difference. the discharge tube, the dipstick, and a few other thigns are different. the OBDI kit uses two check valves whereas my OBDII only used one. those are a few that come to mind.

Hey guys! just to let you know that 97 M Three bought the kit from me when I was a supporting vendor on BFc. I told him to go to ICS to install the kit which he did but is now going turbo. The kit is only about 4 months old. You just have to send your DME to VF-Engineering for the software and you have to pay for that.
$3500.00 is a good price!

These are on sale right now for $4250, so you are getting a previously installed but lightly used unit for a bit over 15% off. If you had to buy software, i.e., to go from the current OBD2 to OBD1, that discount would probably disappear.

Like JM3 said, there are multiple OBDI vs. OBDII differences not just software.

If we can get confirmation it will work on OBD1 applications (hardware wise) then I might be interested for local pick up (if your anywhere near the 5 boroughs)

Barbera, the kit has only been on the forum less than a week, I am going to let it go for a couple wks, please get back to me then.
Black 96 M3, George from ICS can let you know if the set up will work on ODB1 application, you can call him he did the install. I am on long island.
thank you,
