In the middle of October I invested in a Porsche 993tt kit with the Alcon option from Prospeed Motorsport. I paid 2095, one of the most expensive investments I have ever made for my car. At the time, I was paying for what is still today, the "advanced purchase" option because the deal was supposed to save me 100 bucks. Before my purchase, I called Mike several times to make sure I understood exactly what I was buying into and have any questions I had answered directly. No doubt about it, Mike was one of the most helpful guys I have ever spoken with and I thought I had judged his character well enough to where I felt completely comfortable enough to make the purchase.

Well, it’s been since October and all I have are bolts, rotors, and brake lines. I am missing the brackets, calipers, hats, and several replies to emails sent and phone messages in early December. I wish Mike an easy and speedy recovery from his recent surgery; after all, I do empathize with uncontrollable situations life throws at us sometimes. I as well have been there. However, after nearly a month of waiting for me email to be returned, I am fed up with this bullshit. I can tell Mike healthy enough state to where he is able to put an effort in returning my email, along with others, after the few responses he left on this board yesterday and today.

I am not the type to bitch or complain often, especially when it comes to potentially having a negative effect on someone, but I can’t resist any longer. Usually, if I get treated unfairly, I am able to move on with it and try to take it as a lesson learned. This on the other hand is the worst situation I have ever experienced after purchasing something. Over Two thousand dollars of my hard earned American cash was dropped into this kit and all I have are huge paper weights and a bunch of other useless crap to show for it. When I purchased this kit, I was assured I would have a complete kit in just a few weeks after the purchase. I understand how business can go and as a matter of fact I am in a similar situation here. My business is having trouble lifting its feet off the ground, but I can assure you, I keep everyone of my customers updated weekly, if not daily as to how things are progressing.

I am addressing my situation to forewarn everyone the treatment you will receive from Prospeed. I hope you can take my words into consideration before you do something I wish I never had. My lesson from this was, pay pal is great, but credit cards are always a wiser choice. I was promised I would receive fifty dollars back from Prospeed since the price dropped 50, but I have yet to and this leads me to question the legitimacy of Prospeeds operation. Hopefully, as a result of this post, I will get the attention and customer service I deserve. Receiving my kit would also be a nice thing.

Have a wonderful 2003 everybody!

Sincerely, Chris

Hopefully Mike will read this and heed the importance of customer service to you.

My main intention of this thread was to more or less forewarn everyone. Extra 15 points if I get an email.

Maybe you want to post that in this thread too...

Wow,

sorry to hear about your situation. I was one of the ones to entice Michael into making a kit for us. He has been very eager to try to bring a quality product to our community. I will try to contact him and see if anything can be done quickly.

As a note, I just got finished chewing out a NY camera shop for failing to deliver a digicam to me for 3 months. It missed my dad's birthday, and X-mas as a present.

Chris,

You have raised a valid point/complaint. It is true there have been numerous delays in getting this kit completed. All of which have been out of my control. Nonetheless, shouldn't be your problem.

I will e-mail you today off this forum with a proposed resolution.

However, what you did not very clearly state is you have received everything thing, (mounting hardware, SS lines, rotors) and are waiting on the calipers, adapters and hats. They were shipped UPS Grd on 12/10. Additionally you received bedded discs for no additional charge ($150 value) which you also do not mention.

I'm not trying to skirt thei issue. I am clearly at fault as the seller. However, fwiw, the issues delying production have been completely out of my control. Without going into details, I should have had the parts we're talking about 3 wks ago. And as of today, I still don't have them.

Our last communication was 12/7 (e-mail) to which I did respond. Since that time I have not received an e-mail or voice mail from you. If you left a vm over the holidays, I still will not get to it until this wknd. I'm terribly sorry about this, it's just not possible for me to respond in any substantive manner prior to that. Not as an excuse, however I am still recovering from major surgery and can not work a full day yet. I produce great BBKs at prices, in this case over $1500 less than Brembo. I can do this becasue I have less over head than others do. The downside to that is I am a 1 one operation at this time and use outside vendors for several operations. If the vendor is unavailable or I am unable to work/respond, that's just the wasy it is.

On the other hand, I also don't b.s. my csutomers about piston sizing or about what a BBK will do for you. Or in some cases, won't do for you. I work hard to provide valid info on brakes. I realize there are times where my customer service has been/is lacking. You're right, a quick note to customers like yourself stating the status of things would be a great help in situations like this. Again, I am working hard to correct that. That said, for the moment, to produce these kits at the prices I do, and as I and my vendors are human in a fallible world, issues like this will arise.

I will now send you a private e-mail with the proposed solution. I hope that if you find that communication satisfactory, you will also share it with the Forum.

Received word from Mike and everything appears to be okay for the moment. When I get the kit, everything will be excellent.

Best Regards,

Chris

I, along with Chris, have experienced the same. I was probably one of the first two people to order this kit. All that was needed on the part of Prospeed is a small email (a global email to all the customers would be enough) with the status of the kit, but countless emails and voicemails have gone without response (although some were answered, but with no concrete information). Then I see post on the message board by a person I have been trying to reach before I, a customer that has paid for a kit, hears anything from him.

Granted, Mike has been very helpful with information and often taking about an hour just to chat about brakes, he is a very knowledgeable person who wont blow smoke up your a**. I also know what it is to have a business and how hard it is to take care of the business when one's health (BTW, I wish you a speedy recovery from your surgery Mike) is on the table (specially a one man operation), but I would have taken the time to be up front and say that the pieces wont be in until I have had surgery and can dedicate the proper time so that there are no more delays. I also understand that some of the problems encountered have been out of the control of Prospeed, but as a business person, one has to plan for the worse and always expect the worse because ultimately, you are the one people purchase the kit from.

I am confident that Mike will come through with the kits and they will be very competitive, of the highest quality, and be great for us looking for an affordable kit with great parts, I just wish I would not have been kept in the dark as much as I have, specially in this age of internet fraud. I will not go any further in my post because I think Chris has pretty much captured my sentiments in his post.

Carlos

So have you guys recieved your brakes ?
I'll be buying BBK in a couple of months and these brakes look really good, but what good are they if you don't get them.

WTF, I read in a thread the other day that they will no longer be selling BBKs. Does anyone know if this is true ?

FWIW, the guys that ordered the BBKs have all been contacted regarding the status of their kits. I have been waiting on the adapters and hats. They are being picked up today and will go to have the finish applied. So my customers will have their completed kits and refunds (where applicable) in a 1-1.5 wks.

There has also been a comment regarding Prospeed no longer selling BBKs. This is true. There are many reasons for this, but the primary reason is, with Prospeed gearing up for the national release in April of its GS610 brake fluid, I simply do not have time to devote to the BBKs.

I (will) have substancal exess inventory of adapters and hats as soon as I have the pieces back from the finishing process. And I am looking to sell the inventory. With the inventory I will supply the buyer all the Porsche part numbers, Porsche parts sources, wholesale prices and even the CAD drawings so the buyer may produce more kits, if so inclined. Interested parties should contact me directly at michael@prospeedmotorsport.com. As I had mentioned to some folks, there was a deal in place with a prominant BMW focused vendor, however it fell through in the final hour yesterday.

I will be doing the same with the GM F-Body and Mustang BBK inventory. Again, interested parties should contact me directly as I will not be monitoring this forum.

I am available to answer any questions. E-mail me of give me a call at 651.699.3129

Thanks to all.

I have left a couple of messages with Michael this week, to which I have not recieved a return call. In the last message, I have given him until Friday to come up with a viable solution to bring closure to this problem. I have been patient, understanding, and very courteous towards Michael for the past 3 months and now the time has come to "shift gears".

I have been communicating with others on this forum as to the status of their orders, and it appears that I am the only one left although I cant confirm this.

Fortunately, I am local. In fact, I am only 20 minutes from Prospeed. If I dont feel the situation is resolved by the deadline I have established, than I will take legal action on Monday, March 10th.

Spoke to Michael today, appearantly the "plater" ruined the current batch of hats and adaptors. Funny, 2 weeks ago it was "I am just waiting on Porsche parts". This is getting out of hand!

Michael has assured me that I will have my kit "in hand" next Thursday...
