Hi,

Quick question for all you other Vert owners. My 97 328 has the rear defrost button at the bottem of the climate control console. And that little button doesn't light up or do anything when you push it. I was just wondering is it a standard thing to not have rear defrost on the verts?

The other thing I was wondering is the 2 wires going to the hardtop post latch is that to energize or ground the frame of the hard top for rear defrost? Or is it for an electric realease of some sort?

Thanks in advance

Rob

All of them have the button and it does work. When you do not have the HT on, it blows air out of the rear vent to defog the window. When you have the HT on, it turns on the warming grid in the rear window...

So the button should light up when I push it... Gotta get to the root of the problem then... THanks... Now I know I gotta start looking around to see whats not working.

BTW The rear defrost works independilty of the front defrost correct.... Just like any other car?

Thats correct... try removing the hard top and see if the rear vent produces hot air. Will help try and narrow down the problem to not just being a miss-connection with the hardtop, and faulty bulb.

Good luck

There's also power for the interior lights built in to the HT.

Had a similar problem with my hardtop when first fitting. One of the locking levers wasn't pulling the top down hard enough so neither the demister, or lights were making contact to the power source. However, light still worked on the button.

Removing the hard top and trying it with the soft-top will identify if the hardtop is causing a short. Also, have you checked the fuse?
