Is anyone else on this forum experiencing oil consumption on their X5 3.0? It seems like I am adding a quart of oil every couple thousand miles. No towing or hard driving, in fact a lot of it is on the highway.

I have owned a 330ci and a 325i with some mileage and they consumed a very little oil, if any.

Is the X5 chassis just too heavy for the 3.0???

Please help.

Thank you!

I have an '01 X5 4.4 but definitely not normal what you're experiencing:

However, the website that I got this link from (ksl.stanford.edu/people/kpfleger/auto/X5_problems.html) says that the dealers don't recognize this as a problem...strange, considering they say you can do 15K miles without a change.

Call the dealer and let us know what they say. Good luck

The car is going into the dealer soon. I have followed the book on all the scheduled maintenance and it has been driven normally so there should be no reason for this kind of consumption of oil.

I would like to here if there are others who have the same problem with the 3.0...
