Bilsteins & H&R springs are IMHO, the Best!

Sorry, yes, I did it before, not on a Bimmer but on a Jetta GLX. Makes a world of difference. No more body lean, even without antiroll bars or strut brace. You might want to do your tires as well while you do it to really feel the new suspension. BTW. get either Dunlop or Kumho, you'll see what I mean. After that, your car will feel like it was Epoxied to the ground, hee hee.

if you just want the car to ride smoother without lowering it, just repalce the shocks and struts.

I lowered 1.25" which is nothing. You can also get Bilstein/H&R combo and not lower it. These are IMO, the best combination. Beats the crap out of the factory sets. I think they called it OE Shocks/Struts.

Make sure you replace the strut bearings (I don't know what they called in the rear) when you do the swap.
