I just purchased and took delivery of the VF-Engineering Stage 1 kit for my BMW E36 M3. If I send my ECU in for the software upgrade, when the software returns can I drive my car for a short distance less than a mile to complete the rest of the SC installation? I cannot store my car where the installation is going to take place; however, I live a very short distance away. Will I damage the engine to run it for a short distance with the software upgrade and none of the other parts?

Thanks in advance!

No you should be perfectly fine. Hard acceleration would result in running rich otherwise no worries.

But install the injectors !!!
FYI
I sent an email to VF at the same time as I posted this question here, I had an answer back from VF within 10 minutes! Pretty impressed I must say! Here is a copy of the answer that VF gave me...... He did not mention the injectors.......hhhhmmm?
Ian,
That should be fine. We do recommend that you don't go full throttle or rev above 4,000 RPM though.

VF simply rocks all across the board! I can't wait for their e39 s62 kit.

It only makes sense to install the injectors... the dme is tuned for the new injectors meaning at idle when you're not boosting (it needs the same amount of fuel) so if your dme is tuned for 21.5 injectors vs 42s(for example) it will open for half of the orginal time adding half less fuel.....

I was just hoping to quickly remove the DME and not have to screw with the injectors until I have the proper tools and space to do the work....... CRAP!

I have fiddle f@@cked with many carbs and engines in my life but not Fuel injectors, if it is that easy I will surely do the injectors too! I will take a look at my Bentley manual for pointers.
