GGray 12-07-2006, 09:45 PM GT28 on a 2.5 is too small..okay up to 2.0.. Def 12-07-2006, 10:04 PM A GT28what? There are many different versions that begin in GT28xxR. That said, only a *VERY* few number of them have T3 flanges, most have T2 flanges. antonch 12-07-2006, 10:11 PM If you are going to spend so much money on a BB turbo, why not just spend a little more and get the 2871r or the 3071r? Their peak efficiency starts at about 12 psi though. Both should provide good spool. cartune7 12-07-2006, 10:17 PM hmm well i can get the gt28 for $150, that why i wanted to use it, not sure what gt28xxx it is is there a big difference in them?. does a t2 flange look like a t3 but smaller? Def 12-07-2006, 11:00 PM GT28xxx meaning, GT2860R, GT2871R etc. etc. Those are Garrett's official naming schemes. A GT28R is limited to about 300rwhp, you will probably not find you like it after you get over the idea that your car is boosted. I run one on my 2.0L engine, and it's fun, but I even think it's a bit on the small side(I got it for a good deal and it maxxes out my 50 lb/hr injectors, good enough for me now). Yes, a T2 flange looks like a T3 flange with about 45% less area. You need to do more research on turbos, and at least figure out what you're buying before you buy it. There is a GT28(old naming convention), but I doubt it's what you're buying since it's a journal bearing 0.86 A/R turbine that still maxxes out around 300rwhp. cartune7 12-07-2006, 11:07 PM ahh ok thanks for the input guys, ya i kinda thought it would be on the small side, i think ill end up getting a good ole t3/t4 popsicle 12-07-2006, 11:52 PM i'm running a gt28rs with a .86 hot side. and it'll get up and boogy. making over 300whp. it's a good turbo. you wouldn't want a .64hotside on your setup though. too small. Forged328 12-08-2006, 12:50 AM What's the difference between the t28 and the gt28?? patrick S 12-08-2006, 03:12 AM ancient and modern wheel designs? btw gt 28rs on m20b25 engine is very good fit. 1:1 boost and exhaust pressure ratio till 0,8 bar e36'n 12-08-2006, 04:42 AM For 7psi max it should be fine. How much do you want to spend on the turbo? If you can find a Holset HY35 for a good price, jump all over it. ebydrc 12-08-2006, 12:09 PM For 7psi max it should be fine. How much do you want to spend on the turbo? If you can find a Holset HY35 for a good price, jump all over it. plus one on holset turbo. honda guys like the hy35 too :alright cartune7 12-08-2006, 01:38 PM hy35 like off a cummins dodge ram? e36'n 12-08-2006, 05:11 PM plus one on holset turbo. honda guys like the hy35 too :alright I researched the hell out of them before I decided to buy one...than I bought two "just in case." One used and one new. I talked to a bunch of people who've used the HY35 on their cars and everyone seems to love them. Small turbine, huge compressor housing and it seems to suit the 2.5L (based on compressor maps) perfectly. Can't wait to see what it's like on the road. hy35 like off a cummins dodge ram? Yup, I believe it's off the 2001+ Dodge Ram turbo diesels. cartune7 12-08-2006, 10:11 PM shoot dang im gonna have to get one |
