View Full Version : M3 Doorpanels - Leather or not?
palomino 12-06-2006, 08:11 PM Any of you guys know if any M3 verts came with leather door panel inserts?
In my quest to waste more money on my 10 year old car (:rolleyes), I think these might be worthwhile. :az
buckwheat 12-06-2006, 08:51 PM eh I just got the front ones from a coupe
palomino 12-06-2006, 10:12 PM i would want the rears to match.
buckwheat 12-06-2006, 10:49 PM are you talking about the lux ones with the stitching? then yeah I would want the rear. I just got the M3 ones with the paded elbow area.
palomino 12-06-2006, 11:37 PM yeah. its important that the fronts and rears match though.

palomino 12-16-2006, 12:30 AM nice. too bad ive never seen that style of door panel insert in the US. :(
im sure shipping those would be atrocious.
lorkar 12-16-2006, 11:01 AM You'll want the 95 M3 LUX panels....they come up from time to time....you have to Mod the rears to fit your vert....a good upholstery shop can give you the same look for less money that buying the damn panels.

:rofl this is probably true! theyd probably use a higher quality leather as well!
im so used to picking up used parts on the cheap for stuff like this, that i dont even THINK about getting new stuff anymore! :eyecrazy

I don't think shipping is. I had set of rims shipped over from UK for under $100, so a couple of featherweight doorpannels...
The items themselves are major $$$$ (when new at the time.)
The good things is this package also includes leathered and stitched doorhandels (the ones you use to pull the door shut).
When I went to look for this car and testdrove it, at that time I didn't even know about these leather cards. Even worse (or better) it was only after I bought the car (3 weeks later) and arrived at home, when I suddenly noticed there was stitching on the doorpannels.
Then I went on the internet to get some info....well, how happy I was you can imagine.

Not if you get vert version in the 1st place!!

LOL
OK, so you really meant getting coupe ones and mod them to fit verts? Hmm sounds like tough job.

Its only a matter of transfering the insert on the panel...not actually modding the panel itself....I use the LUX leather inserts from the 95 M3....they just glued in......nice improvement.

Yeah I understood that, but afaik, the coupe rear panels (inserts) are quite different to the vert ones. At least I thought to. (thinking about it...the vert ones have the armrest protruding into the interior, while the coupe's are like the front door inserts where the arm"rest" is more toward the exterior side of the car).
Glued in? My rear inserts have clips and just click in and out.
Or are you now talking about the front ones? Since these of course have the same shape, so all the above isn't applicable.
But no, we were talking about the rear cards(inserts)....
Still a nice bonus if people want to install them and can take coupe ones. Nice? Make that GREAT. These panels look so much better than the flat, unpadded, unstitched vinyl pieces.
BTW, did you also get the matching leathered and stitched doorhandles?
