I'm on VAC mounts a little further back than stock seats in the furthest back position. Will a bar (Kirk in particulary) allow me to go back at least that far?

View Full Version : Will roll bar in E36 coupe reduce ability to move seat mounting back? cosM3os 12-06-2006, 06:26 PM I'm on VAC mounts a little further back than stock seats in the furthest back position. Will a bar (Kirk in particulary) allow me to go back at least that far? CABimmer 12-06-2006, 06:27 PM I have a custom bar, but I can go all the way back. jkuper 12-06-2006, 08:08 PM Its probably best to call them, but their site has this pic http://www.kirkracing.com/photos/E36_Bar_Side_EM.jpg The Fello 12-07-2006, 02:11 PM i have a autopower in my daily 4dr M and some times i wish i didnt install it, im 6'2 and i have to sit almost in a race position everyday cosM3os 12-07-2006, 02:57 PM I had seen that pic before it occurred to me, looks like the cross bar is "cut out" to give at least as much room as stock. Don't mind sitting in race position, cause that's all it'll be doing from now on. blue///m3 12-07-2006, 03:54 PM I have the kirk and my seat goes all the way back (I'm tall) and still has a good recline. You shouldn't have an issue callahanw 12-07-2006, 04:05 PM assuming you use that "cut out", it looks like it'd be a death trap on the street :( hickersb 12-07-2006, 04:25 PM Could you expound on this? I'm planning on completing the purchase of an E36 soon, that will likley see rollbar installation. Is the concern that the seat back could break in a rear-end collision and head hits the bar? assuming you use that "cut out", it looks like it'd be a death trap on the street :( CABimmer 12-07-2006, 04:48 PM I think they are talking about a back seat passenger SC-M3 12-07-2006, 05:41 PM I have an AutoPower roll bar (with a harness bar) in my coupe. I'm a tall guy (6' 3") but I have plenty of room for my fixed back drivers seat(Corbeau FX1). I have a stock vader for the passenger side and it won't quite go to the rear most position because of the thickness of the seat back. |
