To elaborate on Purv944's correct response, cooler air is denser air, i.e., there is more oxygen in it. More oxygen means more gas to burn, meaning more hp.

Don't forget to figure in the transmission upgrade cost.

Check out a book called Maximum boost, it explains all the basics. In short, by definition, compressing air means heating it (adiabatic compression). Compressors are inefficient, so additional heat beyond what would be predicted by adiabatic compression is added. The intercooler removes a high precentage of this additional heat.

I too wonder how much power the intecooler will add. Is this really a limiting factor with the stock turbos?

I also wonder how much the stock injectors will handle, because I really don't know where and for how much $$$ you're going to find an upgrade.

I would think an M5 in "M" mode would be around 430 rwhp stock.

bigger intercooler does not mean more power by any means. Depends on the psi drop from a large core, core design, etc. Normally you will see a 1-2psi drop from larger core's. The biggest advatage is it's ability to fight heat soak issues and keep consistently cool dense air going into the engine.

i want an update on this and btw since there is air occupying the space in the intercooler, at all times think physics, and the preassure is being added, there would be no loss in pressure out the other end because that form of pressure is not altered by volume, fwi

I still don't see a need for this until things really get turned up for the 335 modding scene. No one's even doing turbo upgrades yet. I'm sure the stock unit will be fine with just a chip/exhaust upgrade. Upgrading before hitting 475-500 whp would be a waste of money and probably reduce power and increase turbo lag.
